Fabricator/Commercial Installation
I was a commercial and residential countertop
fabricator. As the layoffs began I was able to
keep my job through the waves of layoffs
eventually being the only one in the shop a lot of
the time fabricating all of the laminate and solid
surface counter tops alone at times as well as
receive deliveries,
keep supplies in a min max system, some commercial
installation, and CNC operator. I Also worked with
the CNC programmer to coordinate how to piece jobs
run on the CNC. In addition, I was responsible for
maintaining and ordering the fabrication supply
inventory.

I was a commercial countertop fabricator. I came to
this company and helped them gear up their solid
surface operations. Requested to purchase several
new tools, and reorganized their system in solid
surface production, resulting in doubling their
production.

I started out as residential fabricator. After 1
year, I assumed the role of unofficial foreman with
responsibilities including commercial project
leader delegating work to the guys on huge
commercial projects, and some commercial
installation. I also worked with the CNC
programmer to coordinate the jobs run on the CNC.
In addition, I was responsible for maintaining and
ordering the fabrication supply inventory.

I was originally hired as an installer helper.
Thirty days later I was promoted to solid surface
fabricator. After 2 yrs I was the shop's team
leader making sure the jobs were done on time and
that all materials were present before the jobs
were due. I also did regular inventory to ensure
that all necessary materials would be available for
upcoming jobs. If materials were needed, a purchase
order was requested. After being in the shop for
awhile I did do quite a bit or residential
installations and field repairs as well.

Some of the tasks that I performed during my
employment included hanging metal siding panels,
commercial roofing, block restoration, caulking and
painting using sprayers, brushes and rollers. I
also acquired some steel cutting and ironwork
experience.

Laborer/Driver
I started with this company as a driver, however,
once hired; there was a delay in the starting of my
position. While the delay was being worked
through, the company offered me a general labor
position remodeling a unit for a future store. The
unit was totally gutted, and metal stud framing put
in. We also hung, sanded, and painted drywall.
Additionally, we ran all of the electric and
installed the store's hanger racks, Z bars, and
decorative shelving.
