Director of Human Resources
I was responsible for all Human Resources programs & practices for the
district. These responsibilities included all labor relations &
contract negotiations for six unions comprised of nurses, psychologists,
teachers, administrators, secretaries/clerical, food service, para-
professionals, custodians and maintenance workers. I was also
responsible for recruitment, compensation & benefits, workers
compensation, unemployment, training, performance management, health &
safety. The district was comprised of 800 employees, 3,500 students, and
a budget of $40,000,000.
Accomplishments:
* Created centralized Human Resources Department.
* Implemented on line recruiting resulting in; reduced costs, reduced
recruiting time cycle, increased market exposure, better candidates.
*Recruitment and selection practices selected by A.A.S.P.A. as model for
other districts,
*New return to work program and managed care for workers compensation,
will substantially reduce WC costs.
* Negotiated new contracts for administrators, teachers, and currently
in the process of negotiating new contract for paraprofessionals. Able
to obtain increased employee costs sharing in health benefits, reducing
cost
to BOE. Salary increases averaged less than 3%, which were 1.5% lower
than comparative peer groups.
*Created a new performance management system for non-certified
administrators, creating synergy between corporate mission, training and
goals.
*Created new flextime and on call system.
*Changed time keeping system, reducing potential liability for law suit
exposure.

Directed all Human Resources practices, programs, and budget including
