knowledge on the system and component critical technologies and common

failure modes.

. 5 years of experience in supplier development.

. Strong inter-personal, communication, and teamwork skills.

. Solid experience on Design FMEA, Process FMEA, APQP and PPAP

processes.

. Extensive knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational

Fluid Dynamics (CFD)

. Proficient in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and

tolerance stack-up analysis.

. Proficient in Pro/E, Pro/Mechanica, Minitab

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

CATERPILLAR Inc. - Peoria, IL

Cooling System Engineer, 06/2006 - Present

. Project leader in an 18 Liter marine engine and a 32 Liter marine

engine SCAC cooling system development programs. Retrofitted the

engines to add a separated circuit aftercooled (SCAC) system to

replace sea water aftercooled (SWAC) system, including system and

component (heat exchanger, aftercooler, water pump, expansion tank)

sizing, circuit re-configuration, and new system performance and

structural capability validation.

. Project leader in cooling system design and development for two medium-

size electrical-driven track-type tractors, including system and

component (oil cooler, water pump, thermostat, EGR, radiator, and

ATAAC) sizing for jacket water circuit and a separate circuit, cooling

system performance testing and structural validation testing.

. A key team member in architecture design for a brand new Vee engine

platform (heavy duty-large engine scale) for Tier4 final program, as

well as cooling system strategy down selection and system/component

sizing.

. Worked with proving ground teams in conducting cooling system tests

and vibration tests for engine and machine cooling systems, review

results and identified issues.

. Worked with engine dynamics group in instrumenting gear-driven water

pumps and conducting dynamic gear-train tests to understand the

torsional loading impacts to some particular water pump failure modes,

and identified engineering resolution to resolve the issues.

. Involved in many tear down inspections and failure analyses on EGR

coolers, oil coolers, thermostats, and water pumps.

. Provided engineering supports to global purchasing department in

successfully resourcing one of the critical cooling components from

Strategic Supplier A to Supplier B. Supports including generating

PUGH matrix, visiting supplier facility and evaluation, and proposing

validation plan for the transition.

. Designed and developed a new intercooler for a pair of twin-compressor-

turbos on large diesel engines which effectively improved the

packaging and plumbing (patent pending).

. Designed and developed a high-voltage electric water pump. This is the

very first electric water pump within CAT corporation (patent

pending).

KYSOR WARREN Co. - Columbus, GA

Project Engineer, 01/2005 - 06/2006

. Project leader for building a new testing laboratory, including

bidding on contractors to build the facility, layout piping and

plumbing design, HVAC system installation, and lab air stream

management, instrument procurement, etc.

. Designed cooling systems for display cases along with validation

testing matrix. Conducted performance testing.

. Project leader for retrofitting a remote display case into a self-

contained unit by adding stand-alone refrigeration system.

. Directed laboratory technicians in prototype validation testing.

. Supported production line on lean manufacturing to improve the

productivity and reduce costs

MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY - Starkville, MS

Research Assistant, 08/2002 - 12/2004

. Research on cogeneration systems and performance optimizations on

diesel engine and gas engine power generation systems.

. Developed simulation models for cogeneration systems and feasibility

study on different operation modes in power generation systems.

ZHEJIANG UNIVERSITY - Hangzhou, China

Research Assistant, 08/1999 - 03/2002

. Research on large-scale fossil fuel power generation systems and

performance optimizations.

. Developed a thermal performance analysis and optimization software

package for power generation systems, which was adopted by National

Shajiao Power Plant, China.
