A subsidiary of Hartzell Industries, produces backed veneer, spliced

veneer faces, door and rail sketch faces, stock and plywood faces, wood

veneer edge banding, counter fronts, and custom and specialty veneer

products.

Operations Manager, 3/09 - Present

Responsible to the President and Chief Operating Officer of the company.

Led an organization of 38 employees of which 4 were direct reports.

Managed all disciplines expect sales and accounting. Annual operating

budget of $7,667,000.

. Set record levels in yields, never previously obtained in the

company's history, through an optimization process developed in

conjunction with grading flitch veneer over lights

. Achieved drastic reduction in working capital by reducing work in

process 56% and finish goods 14%

. Developed a process which reclaimed waste material and was utilized to

double the out put of butt-joint edge banding

Responsible for all aspects of the plant's quality program which include

training and leading employees in TQM, ISO, Lean Manufacturing, 5-S, and

Total Productive Maintenance. Duties include developing critical process

measures, supporting sales with customer complaints, identifying and

implementing cost improvement initiatives, and supporting the plant's

safety initiatives.

overall quality by 38%.

. Developed a process for a customer specification program which

department, and reported on equipment downtime and PM completion

percentages.

. Developed a budget costing system that enabled the plant to see daily

the status of all budgeted accounts to provide better spending

controls. Went from spending 14% over budget in 2003 to under 10% in

2004. (Implemented at two other facilities thereafter).

. Through my implementation of the preventive maintenance program,

continuous improvement initiatives and development of standard

operating procedures, machine downtime decreased by 11% in 2003.
