Objective:
A senior staff position within an organization that offers the opportunity
to use my expertise in problem solving, planning, organizing and managing
budgets to achieve the company's goals.
Experience
1994-2010 Venture Industrial Products, Lee's Summit, MO
Vice President of Operations - January 2001 to July 2010
. Created a monthly budget for the company that allowed for increased
reaction time in decision-making.
. Verified and printed the monthly P & L while working with our outside
accountant. I supervised and assisted the in house bookkeeper with
creating customer invoices, defining credit terms, and cash receipts.
. Wrote multiple reports to track all facets of analyzing the cost of
production, including the cost of labor, materials, and overhead.
. Supervised purchasing and receiving department, which included both
raw materials and sub-contract work from various types of vendors. I
also supervised and assisted with AP such as invoice entry and
reconciliation.
. Developed the master schedule for the operation which included
scheduling engineering, purchasing, and the production floor.
. Identified and defined the current labor requirements to the human
resource manager. I worked closely with the HR department to handle
all phases of the department, which included recruiting, hiring, pay
increases, disciplinary action, and contract negotiation with
temporary services.
. Worked with engineering and marketing to improve both quality and job
profitability by setting new standards that all job quotes must meet.
This included new quote review methods and minimum levels of pricing
based upon current labor/overhead rates and desired profit.
. Increased on-time delivery by developing new procedures that matched
the availability of both material and labor resources up with incoming
jobs and customer expedites.
. Working with our customers I created a new stocking program based upon
JIT and KANBAN, which allows customers to maintain an inventory that
they can draw upon, with varying levels of demand ranging from weekly
to quarterly.
Information Systems Manager - June 1998 to January 2001
. Project Manager for identifying, purchasing, and implementing the new
shop software, Made2Manage, that was needed to upgrade our system
. Wrote programs in Visual FoxPro for Dos and Windows in order to
transfer all of the preexisting data from the old software, JobBoss,
into the new software
. Experienced with both Microsoft Excel and Access.
Production Manager - August 1995 to June 1998
. Implemented a "Chain of Command" by choosing supervisors who where
responsible for the machines and people in their area which lead to
improved communication. Worked with supervisors to schedule work
assignments for both day and night shift
. Decreased the amount of time jobs were in the production area by
reducing the number of jobs on the shop floor. This reduced the queue
time from eight days to three days
Purchasing Manager - June 1994 to June 1998
. Purchased all aluminum, steel, and stainless material and hardware for
production
. Maintained the same level of inventory with sales volume tripling
