census forms. Met with Crew Leader daily, kept enumerators on task,

responsible for re-allocating work when enumerators did not complete

assignments. Temporary assignment completed ahead of schedule; offered Crew

Leader position for final phase of census but declined because job did not

start until August.

Insurance Agent: contract position, new business prospecting & sales of

home, farm and commercial insurance. Initial contract was re-written after

six weeks because agency owner could not pay as promised. Contract was

dissolved after 3 months.

Commercial Lines Agent/CSR: property/casualty agent in independent agency,

did all my own CSR work; mostly contractors & small business, farm and

ranch. Represented Acuity, Allied, Colorado Casualty, Progressive, Safeco,

Travelers, United Fire, Zurich plus extensive use of surplus lines agencies

(primarly ADCO General and Burns & Wilcox). Also wrote contractor, lost

instrument, lost title bonds, life & health policies (Anthem/BCBS, Rocky

Colorado P&C / L&H. Handled 500+ accounts and $1.2 million in premium.

Casualty, Safeco, Pinnacol, Progressive, Viking. Worked with Burns &

Wilcox for surplus lines. Took book of business to Western Group

($150,000).

marketing. Business destroyed by fire in 1992; rebuilt it (learned about

insurance and claims process first-hand) and sold business-used proceeds to

stay at home with preschool son (now a college freshman) and eventually

move to Colorado, purchase home and begin career in insurance.
