Create and launch memorable consumer-facing apps for pioneering brands. Projects include:
GreenDot mHealth web/mobile platform: UX, UI, visual design and branding for University of California San
Francisco’s open source mobile and web-based health platform for diabetes management; conducted stakeholder
interviews to test product design. Results: fully funded and currently in clinical trials (see case study).
StopDisaster iOS app: create and launch original emergency preparedness app from field research and user
testing through social media marketing strategy, in collaboration from FEMA and San Francisco Fire Department.
Results: StopDisaster has been the top-selling emergency kit prep app on iTunes since its 2011 launch, with
industry acclaim from cultofmac.com, appmodo.com and dailyappshow.com (see case study).
Map2app Android & iOS app templates: UX/UI refinement to Android and iOS templates for travel app creation.
Results: over 100 travel apps have been developed by international travel providers using templates; Map2App is
currently a finalist for Round A funding from Mind the Bridge startup incubator.
Travel discovery tablet app (stealth mode): Create templated app series for leading international travel media
brand, from prototype pitch through UX/UI template development and visual co-branding. Results: currently in
proof of concept phase, pending approval for series expansion.
Three iOs apps currently in development (stealth mode): WakeyWakey scheduling tool; SoHappy mood tracker;
concert & sport autograph and trading card sharing tool (see case study).
Interaction Design Lead
Cook Here & Now 2005-2011
Founded the West Coast's largest community food group, designing a unique web platform to galvanize the diverse
Bay Area food community and organize successful live events around local, seasonable, sustainable cooking . Results:
organized 52 free community cooking events, as featured in Food & Wine, Travel + Leisure and Lonely Planet San
Francisco and California guidebooks. Secured Cook Here & Now partnerships with James Beard Award winning chefs
Alice Waters and Charles Phan, and built a scalable model for cooking events successfully replicated by Slow Food
groups in Austin, Texas and Melbourne, Australia (see case study).
Lonely Planet Marrakesh Encounter 2008-2011
Create and implement technical guidelines for proof of concept of new Encounter series, and define positive visitor
experience for Marrakesh, Morocco in post-9/11 travel scenario. Collaborate internationally with US, UK and Australian
subject-matter experts to define culturally appropriate visual narrative, from layout to onsite photography. Results:
Marrakesh Encounter became a series bestseller in four languages, proving the series concept; Encounter series
success was cited as a factor in Lonely Planet’s £130.1 million sale to BBC Worldwide (see case study).
