goals. Build strong teams by creating a positive environment and rewarding
exceptional performance. Received a Juris Doctor with high distinction from

Selected Accomplishments
Strategic plan produces 60% growth. Recruited by NCTC to provide fresh
perspective. Developed two white papers as blueprints for growth, later
used a foundation of five-year strategic plan. Consistently exceed budgeted
goals including increasing subscriber base from 7.4 to 12 million and
generating annual member savings of $130M.
Locked-in long term rates with ESPN. Costs were spiraling out of control
with ESPN passing on 20% annual rate increases to NCTC. Negotiated a
reopening of the final three years of existing contract, achieving 35-60%
lower rate inflators and locking-in long term rates equal to our industry
peers. Saved incumbent members over $1B.
New e-Commerce platform supports 30% spike in volume. NCTC order processing
and customer service was slow and inefficient. Initiated business process
review and needs analysis. Implemented e-commerce platform to reduce order
processing time from three days to one hour, accommodating rapid growth
with 10% less headcount.
Formed strategic alliance with American Cable Association (ACA). NCTC and
ACA activities lacked coordination. Built new alliance with ACA, carving
out business/political responsibilities and recommending structural and
governance reforms. Member satisfaction rates soared and attendance at
joint trade show doubled.
Saved 87% on 20-year licensing agreement. Adelphia was held captive by a
single source interactive programming guide (IPG) vendor. Formed a JV with
three other Top Six cable operators to build a competitive IPG without
infringing patents. Incumbent slashed licensing fees, saving hundreds of
millions of dollars over 20 years.
Negotiated highly-favorable rights to ABC-TV programming. Faced major
negotiation on first day with Adelphia. Used circumstances to force
opponents to justify their most basic positions, re-calibrating
negotiations and achieving extraordinarily favorable terms including free
distribution of ABC broadcast programming for three years and charter
affiliate terms for ESPN2.
