SPECIFIC WORK/TASK EXPERIENCE

Extensive Analog electronics repair experience from many years of solving

servicing problems.

March 2011 to June 2011 General Projection Systems of Orlando Florida.

In this position I help install audio visual equipment in various US

Government facilities. Computer display projection systems, screen

controls, distributed audio systems, and infrared microphones. Run cables,

terminate wires. Build racks, label and dress out cables. Examine blue

prints and build orders with an eye towards instillation of equipment.

Maintain stock room, receive orders, process requests and make material

available for the instillation crew. Work with customer representatives and

other contractors to insure a smooth flow of work.

June 2007 to April 2010 Envisioneering Inc. US Naval Research Laboratories.

Contractor

June 2007 I started here NRL working a number of research projects for

state of the art weapons.

Electro explosive high voltage generators. This work included fabrication

and testing. Attended a class on safe handling of electro explosive

devices. Worked on various tasks related to electronic engine stoppers.

Located exotic items, prepared purchase orders. Repaired commercial test

instruments. Built IED simulators for various test programs. First echelon

repair and testing of a physical printer. Attended a class in how to use

the 3D Computer aided design package to make parts. Made use of my

experience in Iraq to educate staff here about what conditions are like in

the mid east. Instrument repair and calibration.

Feb 2007 to June 2007 ManTech Corporation, Indian Head Maryland. Contractor

February 2007 I started working at the Joint Improvised Explosive Device

Organization at the US Navy Center of Excellence, located on the Stump Neck

Annex facility. As the Deputy Project Manager I'm in a unique position.

This facility 'trains the trainers' who are about to deploy to Iraq and

Afghanistan. Since being here I have hand fabricated custom training

devices to demonstrate the principals of Improvised Explosive Device

triggers and allow students to visualize how radio signals operate. I have

become the resource guy to teach the details of electronics and radio

systems technology within the unit. Wrote "Welcome to RF 101" a Power Point

training program to bring very raw candidates up to speed on basic terms

and technologies involved in Counter Improvised Explosive Device systems.

June 2005 to November 2006 ManTech Corporation, Baghdad Iraq, Kuwait.

Contractor

June 2005 Field Service Representative for the Warlock project. Warlock is

a classified program of mobile self protection jammers to defeat the

Improvised Explosive Device threat. Installed, repaired, reprogrammed

systems for Army units operating out of the Baghdad area. July 2005 I was

transferred to the company Regional Support Center in Kuwait.

At our head quarters unit at Camp Arifjan Kuwait, I was involved in module

level repair of US Army night vision weapons sights. Trouble shoot, repair

and test of various infra red night vision devices. Another task at the RSC

was component level repair and rebuilding of circuit boards used in

military air conditioner power controllers. Fabricated test fixtures and

tools to perform depot level repairs in the field.

January 2006 the assignment became testing and repair of parts used in Army

generators. This lab performs depot level component repair of the various

modules. Earned a coin from the commanding general of CECOM for cost

reductions. Supervise and train three Army reservists in the servicing of

generator electronics. Wrote a book on how to bench test and repair

various items used in military generators. Order and maintain a stock of

GFE and commercial parts for repairing LRU's. End of contract was November

2006.

2005 to 2005 Secure Systems Group. Sterling Virginia.

SSG manufactures and verifies Tempest computers for various NATO and US

government agencies. Built and verified a screen room. Took Tempest

measurements.

2003 to 2004 ITT System Division. Contractor

My first over seas contract was in Scania Iraq. Supporting the

communications effort for the US Army 54th Signal Battalion. Maintaining a

USC 60 satcom terminal in the field at a forward deployed Army base. This

satcom supports critical encrypted data and phone networks for the base and

coalition partners. Work outside scope of contract. Component level repair

of computers and other devices. Programmed a new police radio system for

the MP's SECFOR (Security Force). Established a low power FM radio station

for trooper entertainment. Advised the base Communications Officer on

improving radio communications with field units. Help solve RFI/EMI issues

on the base.

2003 to 2003 Communications-Applied Technology Reston, Virginia

Principal technician for product development, test and configuration.

Worked on digital wireless intercoms, and two-way radio interoperability

devices. Developed build books, parts lists, procedures, and production

sketches. Had the opportunity to work with the clients at a nuclear waste

facility in Idaho, a VX nerve gas plant in Indiana, and some communications

projects at Edgewood Chemical in Maryland.

1999 to 2001 Netsec Systems Manufacturing Herndon, Virginia

Manufacturing Manager. Was tasked with creating a factory to assemble and

test a new network security device. After ninety days Netsec was able to

start production on SUNA MK I (Secure Universal Network Appliance) units.

Established a test infrastructure including a burn in facility. Started a

database of part and serial numbers entered with a bar code system. Wrote

the assembly manual for the different SUNA variants. Helped assemble the

first Crypto Graphic Accelerator cards. Generated vendor lists and

purchasing orders for key manufacturing parts. Looking forward to more

micro electronics build and test on future projects.

1998 to 1999 Orbcomm International Gateway Engineering. Herndon, Virginia

Senior Electronics Technician. Assemble, test and install satellite earth

station equipment for clients across the world. International travel to

support Orbcomm contracts to sites in Brazil and Argentina. While there,

worked with company engineers and clients on installation of their

headquarters and earth station equipment. Created the manufacturing how to

book for the Orbcomm MDC (Message Distribution Center) unit and the RF

Control module. Established a more efficient way to build and maintain

these products.

1996 to 1998 Communications-Applied Technology Reston, Virginia

Senior Electronics Technician. C-AT is a radio equipment manufacturer for

end users in the Nuclear Biological, and Chemical weapons industries. Was

responsible for product test, system configuration, and QA, of new and

repaired systems. Started C-AT toward using the modular manual idea. This

allowed our user manuals to be tailored for job specific options and

reduced time in creating these books. Developed some automatic test

programs that used the IFR 1200 analyzer and a PC.

1995 to 1996 Harris Corporation. Transcom Division Palm Bay, Florida

VSCS field engineer. Maintained the FAA VSCS (Voice Switching and Control

System) at various ARTCC centers in the US. The VSCS is the system that

allows controllers to use any of the communications devices (radio, telco,

& leased lines) to communicate with aircraft or other control centers

across the country. Helped train FAA staff to maintain the system.

1994 to 1995 RDCC Syosset, New York

Operated a small high tech. repair agency. Repair Department Communications

Corporation (RDCC) specialized in products that were difficult to have

serviced. Computer displays, impact printers, electronic signs, switching

power supplies, two way radio products, high fidelity audio components,

ultrasonic power devices, and auto sound systems. Customers included

Dynaco, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratories, TDX, and the Town of Huntington,

New York.

1993 to 1994 Suffolk County Communications Bay Shore, New York

Principal two way radio technician. While there repaired various types of

communications radio and support products. Started an intelligent method of

purchasing repair parts, and solved some radio interference problems for

clients.

1986 to 1993 Hazeltine Corporation Greenlawn, New York

Environmental Test Laboratory. Controlled and programmed various tests on

new and experimental military gear. Was deeply involved in the component

level repair of testing machines. Did all aspect service on high power

electro-dynamic vibration amplifiers and shakers. Very high power

amplifiers of tube and solid state design. Repaired thermal test chambers

that used cascade refrigeration. Modified older chambers, worked out a way

to add liquid nitrogen injection for controlled boost cooling. Earned one

of the early refrigerant reclaiming certificates that was issued. Learned

how to reclaim and properly handle R12, R13, R502, R503, and R22. Found gas

and liquid leaks in sealed systems. Other duties included has welding of

steel, silver soldering, basic electrical work, three-phase power control,

plumbing, vibration analysis, accelerometer placement, and repair of trade

show displays

Outside Interests

I am involved with the amateur radio community. As a member of the AMRAD

club, I become involved in club construction projects. Set up and delivered

over 100 high power VHF Low Band transceiver systems for use during wide

area emergency events. In New York, I worked with law enforcement and the

Coast Guard Auxiliary in tracking down deliberate interference on their

frequencies. I built and modified radio direction finding equipment.

Taught the basics of RDF to Suffolk County communications emergency

managers.

I was the Emergency Coordinator for the Town of Huntington ARES unit.

Directed volunteer communications for many actual emergency events.

We provided disaster communications for nor-easter class storms, an Avianca

707 crash into Cove Neck, and a great many public service events. I took a

leadership position in bringing the Town of Huntington into full compliance

with FEMA regulations. I have an interest in mobile radio direction finding

methods.

I collect old science fiction books; cd's of one hit wonder bands, and read

on a large variety of topics.
