As a Database Administrator, I am responsible for:

• L2/L3 support and administrating the databases on Linux/AIX/Windows.

existing applications that maintain the Providers (doctors & hospitals) information for WellPoint.

The objective is to build a foundation to enable the entry of Provider Data into a central

repository and thus streamlining and standardizing WellPoint business processes. The EPDS

centers on the heart of WellPoint’s business model of creating, tracking, marketing, and

managing flexible, quality provider networks to support all lines of business, products and

services. The intent of the project is not only to support existing business, but also to provide a

flexible, configurable solution to enable future business initiatives and growth.

Primary resource for:

Monitoring, maintaining and troubleshooting production, staging, test and development

DB2 UDB databases on AIX and Solaris

Enhancing application performance by running RUNSTATS, REORGCHK and REORG

utilities

Analyze DB2 UDB Event Monitor information, performance characteristics of table

spaces, physical I/O rates, and table access activities.

The project is the Life insurance system which provides new business and product

administration functionality for fixed annuities and life products. Life File Maintenance (FM)

receives input from the New Business file, Customer information file (CIF) triggers, and CICS

created transactions. The Life online is pseudo real-time environment. When a transaction is

entered, a "future row" is added to the master database table and a transaction is created for that

night's batch run. During online activity the future rows are accessed to give the appearance that

the certificate has been updated. Prior to batch file maintenance the "future rows" are deleted and

the transactions are applied updating the database during the file maintenance.

Responsibilities:

Primary resource for:

• Maintaining, Enhancing and Supporting different financial Applications (which also

involves Installation of emergency code changes)
