MARIA B. KUKUC

CIVIL ENGINEERING STUDENT

OBJECTIVE

To find an entry level position that will allow me to expand my knowledge in the engineering field while continuing to

attend school. A position with a company that will allow me to cultivate my professional skills, while being flexible

with my work hours so I can continue to finish my degree in a timely manner. I am looking for a full or part time

position.

FUNCTIONAL SUMMARY

I am a motivated team player looking to change careers. I am coming to a point in my life when it is becoming

apparent that I need to take the next step to achieving my goal of becoming a future civil engineer. The last six years I

have worked as a Union Carpenter Specialist, rebuilding and maintaining roller coaster trains for Six Flags Great

Adventure. I have always distinguished myself as a hard working individual, continuously gaining knowledge to make

myself a more versatile employee. On a daily basis, I was responsible for inspecting roller coaster train cars, making

all necessary repairs and documenting all work performed. I make it a point to keep open lines of communication with

all my foremen, as well as the parks general manager and other office staff. I have gained many important skills I feel

are critical to any future engineer. I can communicate with booth my co-workers and professional office staff. I am

able keep all my repair and inspection records orderly and updated. I am also a self starter, working on projects with

out having to be told. I love to stay busy, always seeking something to do.

Prior to being placed at Six Flags Great Adventure I worked out of the Union Hall for a wide verity of employers. I

worked on many different constructions sites, jobs from metal stud sheet rock, to concrete installations. I have been

able to gain clearance to work in the Oyster Creek Power Plant for scaffold work. I have OSHA 30 certification

through the carpenters school. As a carpenter I have become familiar with aspects of industrial construction. I am

continuously building my professional skills in the hopes of becoming an asset within the right company. I am not

afraid of hard work. However, I am looking for more of a mental and professional challenge.

Every job I have had up to this point in my life, taught me to be organized, flexible, and goal orientated. While I still

lived in Chicago, I worked for a Harley Davidson retail store while finishing my first undergraduate degree in fine arts

and my graduate degree in education. I gained good people skills during my time in retail. I also learned some

management skills and how to deal with employees professionally while in the position of assistant store manager. I

also worked for the Chicago Public School system part time, as a substitute teacher, while in graduate school. I became

extremely organized and observant during my time as a student teacher and substitute teaching at the elementary

schools.

I am currently attending The New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark. I am currently a senior in their four year

civil engineering program.
