Summary
Let me know how I can use my excellent writing, editing, and strategic skills to devise creative, compelling
communications plans and materials to promote organizational effectiveness, growth, image, and morale. I am
especially good at “translating” technical or specialized information into clear, friendly language with any
desired spin or tone. I have a sharp design eye and I am great at synthesizing information from a wide variety of
sources into a seamless, compelling piece.
As Project Director for Infoco, I find the right people for focus groups and other research formats, working with
clients to identify branding, target audiences, and messaging strategies for consumer and B2B projects.
As Associate Director of Communications for a prominent international drug prevention organization, I worked
with volunteers, vendors, and PR and advertising agencies to ensure a regular flow of actionable,
audience-appropriate information to a variety of stakeholders grassroots, media, donors, scholars, officials,
board of directors, etc. I developed the organizational style guide, produced the annual report, wrote and
produced the newsletter, spearheaded direct-mail campaigns, collected and communicated data for reports,
wrote grants, and designed and maintained media and grantwriting databases.
I have translated a brilliant novel, "Que viva la musica," by Colombian author Andres Caicedo, now available
on Amazon.com as an ebook. Long Live Music!
I am also an award-winning published author and writer of wide experience, creating materials for many
different audiences, media, and audiences. I've done everything from a marketing CD-ROM for a petrochemical
pipeline company to drug-prevention newsletters to butterfly-watching PSAs for a city government. You name
it, I can write it.
I recently completed the excellent mediation training course at the esteemed Fanning Institute at the University
of Georgia and have registered as a certified mediator with the state of Georgia.

Long Live Music
January 2011 to December 2012

‘Long Live Music’ is a novel by Colombian writer Andrés Caicedo. ‘Long Live Music’ (Qué viva la música)
was his first and only full-length novel, published in 1977 shortly before his death by suicide at age 25. To
my knowledge, this is the first time any of his work has been translated into English, so he is virtually
unknown in the English-speaking world.
This novel chronicles the social and moral decline of a 17-year-old girl. From her upper-class origins, she
sinks through the strata of Colombian society to settle eventually at the lowest possible level in the red-light
district of Cali, her native city. As the novel opens, she has just begun to savor the high-life of her class,
which centers on drugs, American fashions, sex, and rock and roll. The whole scene inevitably collapses,
being little more than an imitation of an alien and already degenerate culture. Determined to continue the
party no matter what, the protagonist (whose name we do not discover until the last page) ventures outside
her social sphere to find a new dance craze: salsa. Unlike rock and roll, salsa has roots in her own culture, a
stamina and vitality to equal her own, and a rhythmic velocity to which she gravitates naturally. She learns
the ways of her new surroundings through a series of men, preying on their knowledge and their secrets and
then discarding them. As she immerses herself more deeply in the frantic world of hardcore salsa, she refines
and distills her pleasures until she arrives at a situation she knows she will never leave because it suits her so
perfectly.
In addition to its considerable literary merit, the book is extremely entertaining. The protagonist is
manipulative, vain, corrupt, and hedonistic to the point of perversion and she is also intelligent, vivacious,
charming, and perceptive. Her story, which in less skilled hands would be craven or sordidly sensational, is
lively and engaging, imbued with spirit and significance.

"Over a two year period, I had the wonderful opportunity to work under Linda Duper at the Regional Baha'i
Council of the Western States and to contract her services as a communication consultant for Universal Arts.
I was most impressed with her keen intelligence, strategic thinking, confident decision making, meticulous
organization, excellent communication ability, dedication to quality service, and kind heart. She is a great
editor with a poet's sensibility. Her creative writing is compelling, humorous, honest and intimate.
Additionally, she was a great manager! She knew just how to motivate me to do my best work. The
environment she created was a reflection of her character: peaceful, creative, honest, joyful, loyal, full of
laughs, disciplined, efficient, motivating, down to earth, service oriented and humble. Honestly, I can't say
enough about Linda. I highly recommend her as a manager, a communication consultant, an editor, a creative
writer and a friend."
