October 2011 - March 2013

Transportation Operations Manager:

Held full responsibility of the transportation, distribution and fleet

operations for the Kroger 3PL operations, Atlanta Distribution Centers,

through direct reports of 1 fleet manager, 2 assistant managers and 12

supervisors. Fully accountable for the preparation, management and

implementation of the department's $44 million annual operating budget.

Direct all activities of the transportation and fleet teams providing DSD

service to Kroger retail locations in Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and

Tennessee through 2 strategically located distributions centers. Manage 215

unionized drivers and a supplemental pool of temporary drivers and owner

operators utilizing a fleet of 120 tractors and over 650 trailers (dry and

Multi temp) running 14 million miles annually.

. Successfully developed and implemented labour management planning tools

to reduce cost while maintaining expected service levels for all store

deliveries.

. Reduced operating expenses in Q1 - 2012 by $0.06/mile vs. budget

. Revamped delivery window process to align driver dispatch with On Time

September 2010 - April 2011

Distribution Manager:

Held full responsibility of the distribution and fleet operations within

the Ohio region through direct reports of 1 fleet manager, 2 branch

managers and 7 supervisors. Fully accountable for the preparation,

management and implementation of the department's $24 million annual

operating budget. Oversaw the execution of DSD service to a variety of big

box and small to mid-sized customers through 1 plant location and 2

strategically located distribution centers.

. Implemented improved control methods for the management team utilizing

XATA fleet tracking tools resulting in improved metrics management and

accountability of our driver team.

. Managed the maintenance expense in an aging fleet by working closely

with our fleet manager to ensure required R&M is performed timely and

cost effectively as required by DOT regulations.

. Led operations management representative on our employee / management

committee in our non-union facilities.

HAVI LOGISTICS NORTH AMERICA (formerly HFS N. A.) - Chicago, IL

January 2007 - September 2010

Senior Director of Operations: (March 2009 - September 2010)

Held full operational responsibility of the distribution network in North

America through direct reports of 2 Regional Operations Directors, 1

Logistics Director and 12 GM's with an annual operating budget of $120

million. Responsible for all operational areas including distribution,

route management, warehousing, inventory management, picking, packing,

shipping/route loading, security, temperature compliance, DOT compliance,

facility management and administration. Managed over 450 food / food

related products for 4 major customers through customized "Last Mile"

delivery from one of our 12 Distribution Centers in North America.

. Advised and approved, as part of the senior management team, the final

2010 DC budgets. Met targeted goal of improving operational

performance by 5% in 2010 vs. 2009 actuals in both the warehouse and

transportation sectors of the operations in 9 DC's.

. Implemented weekly accountability framework with all DC's to

address/monitor key metrics and operational expenses. Drove

improvement that is being seen in the 2010 operating results to date.

. Initiated route performance improvements through the introduction of

the Planned Hours and Miles report (utilized to manage route times and

against their local operating budgets). Accountability and follow up

with drivers is the main focus of this tool. DC's were able to see

significant improvement in hours spend and in many cases 10% in hour's

reduction per route per day was the realized savings.

. Successfully negotiated the first Collective Bargaining Agreement for

our Calgary DC while maintaining the budget labour requirements for

the facility.

. Liaison with customers regularly to develop effective action plans

that focus on operational excellence and continuous delivery

performance improvement.

. Improved the overall delivery expense to our customer through a

frequency reduction resulting in a realized savings to our customer of

$450,000.

. Overhauled Store Exceptions reporting for our major customer to

identify key delivery obstacles and streamline the overall delivery

process.

Director of Logistics, Eastern Region: (February 2008 - March 2009)

Responsible for all Industrial Engineering functions working in

collaboration with 1 Logistics Director and through direct reports of 1

Fleet Manager and 2 Analysts. Work directly with all 12 DC's on all

performance elements within their operations including routing and route

management, metrics reporting and subsequent cost control, warehouse

productivity, and operational excellence focused on customer performance.

Held full responsibility for a fleet of 400 plus temperature controlled

tractor trailers and trucks including lease procurement and maintenance

programs.

. Completely overhauled and implemented operational metrics management

reporting in 2008/09 resulting in a 10% reduction of operating

expenses. This included full operations reports and route management

tools.

. Through cost (P&L) management, net income improved from a $4 m in loss

in 2007 (when I joined the company) to $4 m gain in 2008.

. Responsible for developing high level consolidated KPI report for our

major customer, including metrics performance for On Time, In Full, and

Customer Satisfaction.

. Developed and implemented a full Cold Chain reporting and management

tool that has resulted in a current aggregated compliancy rating of

98%.

. Coordinated a change in fleet maintenance providers while maintaining

expenses at or below previous costs in most markets.

. Worked in conjunction with the sales and DC operations teams to analyze

and develop the key operational components required for the final RFP /

RFQ presentations.

General Manager, Toronto Distribution Center (January 2007 - February 2008)

Held full P&L responsibility for the $4.2 million operating budget that

encompassed inventory and inbound planning, all warehouse functions

including picking, packing and shipping, fleet management and maintenance,

all labour planning as well as all administrative requirements for the

facility. Serviced 200 plus daily deliveries in our 24/7 operations with a

staff consisting of 2 supervisors, 1 inventory control coordinator, 20

drivers, 15 warehouse and 2 admin staff as well as managed the 4PL

relationship and service requirements with our vendor servicing remote

daily deliveries. Maintained a strong focus on customer relations that

consistently met or exceeded expectations.

. Improved net profit by $230,000 over budget, a 25% improvement, by

implementing accountability and basic metrics management. As a result

achieved the recognition for most profitable center in the network in

2007.

. Successfully implemented a new ERP (JD Edwards) in the summer of 2007.

Ultimately became one of 3 SME's that assisted the organization with

the rollout of the ERP to all remaining DC's in North America.

. Crafted a 60 day action plan to address ongoing breakdown issues within

the fleet. Through driver coaching and communications with our

maintenance provider to improve reliability, breakdowns were reduced by

25%.

HARMONY LOGISITCS INC. (Div. of Exel Logistics) - Pickering, ON

August 2005 - December 2006

Transportation Manager:

Responsible for the budgeting, planning and shipping / loading of all

outbound transportation needs to Eastern Canada from a 700,000 square foot

warehouse supplying general merchandise and grocery items to a major

grocery chain (app. 1,200 locations). Averaged 60 to 70 outbound loads per

day for direct store delivery with an annual budgeted spend of $19 million.

. Through improved load planning practices that maximize cube and

effective loading techniques, reduce the transportation operating

budget from a plan of $19 m to an actual spend of $13 million in 2006.

. Directed the activity of my management team that consisted of 3

supervisors, 1 analyst and 3 planners. Through daily metrics review and

dynamic load planning the planners were responsible for maximizing load

cube and reducing miles and trips

. Developed a metrics reporting mechanism that tracked all pertinent

items on a daily and weekly basis. The reporting metrics ensured we

were on track with On Time Performance, Cube Utilization and Carrier

Expense on a weekly basis by providing an effective tool to manage the

accountability of the load planners, and shipping department.

. Led a project team that looked at warehouse inefficiencies and errors

that occurred from picking through to pallet build.

January 1991 - August 2005

Transportation Manager: (June 1998 - July 2005)

Accountable for the preparation and management and implementation of the

department's $8 million annual operating budget that encompassed all inter

plant and DSD transportation requirements and fleet maintenance needs.

Directed the activity of the fleet manager, transportation supervisor, load

coordinators (3) and returns dock supervisor ensuring all internal and

external customer needs were met.

. Developed metrics and financial management tools that tracked all

transportation movements that ensured spending met or exceeded budget,

coupled with exceptions reporting as required.

. Negotiated all freight rates, maintenance contracts, refrigerated

equipment purchases (and specifications).

. Managed the maintenance expense in an aging fleet through root cause

focused tracking methods, resulting in proactive preventative
