Career Synopsis: I have 14 years of experience in system and network security, application development,

and system administration. During my time in the Information Technology field I had the opportunity

implement and secured complex networks and applications ranging from standalone servers to load

balanced farms and databases. As well as, centralized logging and tracking systems based on SPLUNK.

Currently, I am looking for an opportunity where I can utilize my knowledge and know and aids me in the

EXPERIENCE

US Southern Command – IT Specialist September 2010 - Present

I am currently working with a system security assessment and field testing team; one of our main objectives

is the hardening of low bandwidth/satellite based emergency and disaster response systems developed in

conjunction with DARPA, which is currently deployed in Latin America.

Among my duties is the intersection of communication of the different roaming handhelds to the base

station taking advantage of several sniffing and monitoring tools such as, Wireshark, IPtraff, TCP Dump,

and tracked all system logging with SPLUNK to later create performance paper.

Additionally, I administer the Linux Cluster that the system runs under and is currently located in

Terremark, to which emergency and disaster responses are submitted to.

As a secondary duty, I work as a SharePoint Administrator and developer for the Engineering Directorate. I

am in charge of the repository of all relevant information generated on the field, as well as, the facilitator for

collaboration among inter-agencies and nongovernmental parties. I also aid in user access and training.

Lastly, in charge of training of technology previously mentioned, as well as, support of the different

implementations and conference exposure needed for the various technologies in the AOR.

IOS Health Systems – System Administration January 2009 – Sept 2010.

During my tenure at IOS Health Systems, I designed the infrastructure and secured the communication and

topology for offshore to land replication and data consistency check to be implemented in eSeaCare; which

was to be Maritime Industry’s first complete end-to-end software platform that connects an entire fleet and

every aspect of medical operations through one comprehensive and easy-to-deploy solution for Carnival and

Royal Caribbean.

I also had the opportunity to setup and maintain 80 servers running on Linux Ubuntu Server (Web Cluster,

DB Cluster, Gluster Parallel File Server Cluster), 2 MySQL DB Clusters, 4 Windows servers (Windows

2003 Standard). 3 mail Qmail Servers, 3 Asterisk servers and other miscellaneous services, as well as,

collocations and a Compellent SAN Solution. Additionally, I maintained and implemented sedurity and

logging tools such as, SPLUNK, Snort, Nagios, Cacti and intermapper monitoring and sniffing solutions.

Jettis - Contractor March 2008-January 2009

I was contracted by Jettis to deploy and configure a range of security measures and tools required to pass the

PCI compliancy standard “The Payment Card Industry Security Standard”. I deployed Snort under the PCI

guidelines, set up and maintained a centralized SPLUNK loggig server for database and web servers and

implemented system and network monitoring tools: “ nagios, cacti, OpenMMS” to adquire and maintain

PCI compliancy.

Additionally, I created a LAMP based application to manage and monitor asterisks VOIP servers used in

Jetti’s call centers.

Travel One - Contractor January 2008-January 2009

As a contractor for Travel One International, I worked on creating a virtualized architecture with Dell

Blades and Compellent SAN solutions. I also set up a centralized Splunk solution for SUSE Linux and

Microsoft IIS web servers. In addition, I deployed a centralized backup server for all production databases

and web applications. Additionally, I set up and maintained system and network monitoring tools “ Nagios,

Cacti, OpenSMS” to keep track of network health.

Ziff Davis Enterprise - Software Engineer June 2007-March 2008

During my time at Ziff Davis I had the opportunity to setup and maintain 16 servers running on Linux

RedHat Enterprise 5.0 across a load balancer that were used to host eWeek and CIO Insight, as well as, other

highly trafficked sites. I supported 6 web servers, 6 databases, 2 mail servers, and 2 remaining servers which

had miscellaneous uses (FTP and monitoring).

In addition to my system administrator tasks, I was a key component during the migration of eWeek from an

ASP .NET Environment to a PHP based platform, as well as, developing a custom application based on

Cacti to monitor all servers status and system utilization.
