Resume
*/**** - */**** ****** Electronics Anaheim, CA
Senior Marketing and Communications Writer
Tasks included extensive web content creation and editing work, headlines,
product descriptions for catalogs and websites, consumer communication,
newsletters, news wires, and various types of editing My main task was to
write 500-750 word articles describing AV installations around the world
that use Extron Electronics AV products. It required begin able to read
complex schematics, and determine the signal flow of each installation,
interview the "integrators" who performed the installations, try to find
unique things about each installation, and then convey the essence of the
installation as both an advertisement for Extron products and an
entertaining story that both technical and "civilian" readers would enjoy.
10/2002 - 9/2010 Rapiscan Security Products, Inc. Hawthorne, CA
Senior Technical Writer
As a tech writer for manufacturers of security X-ray machines (for both
Rapiscan and EG&G Astrophysics - see below), I wrote installation, operator
and maintenance manuals for machines as small as tabletop models, all the
way up to massive trucks and in-place installations that would scan entire
cargo containers in one sweep. The machines would include electronic,
electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, software, and networking components. I
would have to go out and not just operate the machines, but take them
apart, documenting and photographing each part, both separately and in
relationship to the other components of each machine. I've helped my
employers win government contracts worth hundreds of millions of dollars,
and consistently met tight deadlines and stringent government and military
standards and requirements.
