Professional Assignments
Electrical Engineer & Project Lead, Nana Worley-Parsons, BP Contractor 10/08 – 6/13
Worked with a combined team of designers and electricians to correct electrical safety issues in structures
throughout the Prudhoe Bay oil field. Coordinated electrical outages to minimize impact to customers while
achieving a productive schedule for our corrective action electricians.
Resolved technical issues with the installation, modification and expansion of electrical systems. Delivered
progress reports to management. Created photo presentations to showcase work progress.
Project Lead for the ESI team, responsible for developing schedules, preparing funding requests, tracking project
progress, providing overall project supervision, and reporting accomplishment of goals to higher management.
Held short notice educational sessions for a combined designer and electrician crew on aspects & requirements of
the National Electrical Code. These included topics of wire sizing, overcurrent protection, three phase power
generation & transmission, classified area considerations, battery & UPS systems, and power factor & correction.
Electrical Engineer, Kellogg Brown & Root 10/07 – 10/08
Designed electrical grids to consolidate generators for fuel conservation and better load management, including
automatic paralleling of diesel engine generators. Extended 5KV and 13KV systems to serve new facilities.
Worked with electricians to build these systems using parts on hand, under challenging conditions.
Performed electric system designs for entire DFAC new construction projects, and many lesser structures. Made
additions and modifications to existing electrical systems to improve efficiency or serve new functions in existing
structures. Designed emergency power systems to serve Combat Information Centers. Created designs for
lighting systems in buildings and for street lighting.
Inspected existing electrical systems, creating reports and lists of needed improvements to bring the structures
closer to meeting US code practice. Designed needed improvement packages including drawings, specifications
and statements of work, created material take off lists, and supervised the final installation in the field.
Performed assessments of failed electrical systems, indicating needed improvements to prevent reoccurrence,
including forensic investigation of burned structures to discover the likely source of the fire. Created a standard
of using class P ballasts in Balad, Iraq which was later extended to the entire country for the US Army
installations.
Trained electrical crews and quality assurance personnel in proper electrical building grounding and wiring
techniques. Conducted classes on requirements of the National Electrical Code for construction personnel.

Senior Consultant, MSX International 4/99 –9/07
Project managed electronic parking access systems at two Florida airports, rapidly solving unexpected problems
with innovative solutions, and brought the projects to completion on schedule and under budget.
Working as a systems engineer, provided Year 2000 project management and detailed technical analysis to enable
the largest client to achieve year 2000 peace of mind in computer, software and mechanical systems.
Analyzed available detection systems, devised & conducted testing methods to select leading technologies, then
worked with vendor engineering departments to integrate software & deploy an enhanced vehicle detection
system.
Project managed additions to client telephone systems, established an automatic call direction system, and
associated queues. Installed and configured Cisco routers and associated network communications gear. Prepared
disaster recovery plans. Specified & configured Alpha/Open VMS systems for optimum performance. Designed
computer room facilities, including emergency power, UPS, heat rejection, and network equipment support.
Classified Systems Manager, Joint STARS Joint Test Force, USAF 2/95 – 4/99
Worked with the approval & sponsoring authorities to install the first Siprnet at this site, using state of the art
communications systems. Supported this Siprnet through normal operation, upgrades, problem resolution,
periodic cryptographic upgrades and repairs.
Moved the organization from text based terminal access of All In One to an Enterprise NT Domain with
Exchange, RAS and clients using both WinNT and Win95. Integrated a VMS server into an NT domain for
seamless file access. Flightline rated, appointed Computer Systems Security Officer, served as Fire/evac warden,
Department of Defense clearance TS/SCI (Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information).
Responsible for an OpenVMS Cluster of Alpha and VAX systems, multiple Windows NT domains, and client
workstations in a classified environment, including expansion planning and execution, performance tuning,
routine maintenance and emergency repair. Automated routine system tasks using DCL
Previous Assignments
Chief Software Engineer, Utilities Engineer, Reedy Creek Utilities Company
Field engineering construction representative for the utility company’s new central energy plant, interfacing with
the design team and then solving issues during construction. Provided liaison between contractor, design & owner
personnel, created reports to track progress. The plant included 12kv, 5kv and 480 volt systems, 4500 ton chillers,
boilers and diesel generators.
Managed the project for the expansion of an energy control center, selected new personnel, created and conducted
a training program to double the staff, and completed the project on schedule and under budget.
Provided damage control and emergency service restoration for all utility systems, including a 30MW aero
derivative combustion turbine cogeneration plant, with 8MW waste heat steam generation, and multiple thermal
product streams. Produced innovative solutions to outages in 69kv & 15kv electric transmission & distribution,
along with purchased power contracts and several smaller generation units, including two 2.5MW railroad engine
derivative units. Designed and implemented a training program to permit operation of the larger standby
generation units in the role of peak demand reduction.
Testified successfully before the Florida Public Service Commission, using personally developed facts and
statistics to reverse the rules under consideration by the FPSC that would have penalized utilities who were
already using energy efficient equipment.
