July 2013

I am currently looking for opportunities in operational and administrative management positions that utilize my experience in leading and managing team members, operations, business development, strategic management, process improvement and implementation, and client relations.

In 2003, I earned a Master of Business Administration degree from California State University, Bakersfield. My undergraduate degree is in Management Information Systems granted from California State University, Fullerton. I am also a trainer of the DiSC behavior model which serves as a core component to any interpersonal communications training program, leadership development, sales effectiveness, team building, or set of coaching tools.

While at Charter College, Oxnard California, I was a part of the campus team that was presented with “Campus of the Year” for meeting financial goals and employee satisfaction levels. We were the only campus to successfully meet both criteria. I understand how to manage and how to provide leadership which leads individuals to perform at high levels. This was evident when we positioned faculty members into new roles within the company which added additional authority and responsibility and allowed ownership to take place and self-initiatives to occur. I successfully transition into the higher education industry and quickly absorbed the stringent regulations set forth by the Department of Education as well as the national accreditation institution of ACICS. The move to Washington State to oversee the campus there caused personal hardship and I relocated back to the Bakersfield area.

The company I had been employed with prior to Charter College was Fleet Card Fuels and for a period of 13 years. The company was purchased and all positions were absorbed and centralized to Northern California.

As a Business Unit manager at Fleet Card Fuels, I led the operations of a successful business with revenues in excess of $159m which included record sales growth in 2011 despite the economic downturn of the past few years. This was accomplished by streamlining processes, implementing new software developments that off-loaded 40% of categorized inbound calls to a self-service customer portal, and increasing wallet share from existing customers by introducing a new fuel site convenience model. While our competitors were slashing their sales staff, I actually grew our sales staff by two positions which proved beneficial. Under my direction, I have successfully managed multi-disciplined teams including customer care, sales, and information technology, including cross functional planning and systems integration.

In addition, I have been an associate faculty member at the University of Phoenix since 2007. Iam an expert facilitator in leading students to meet class objectives, understanding of course concepts, bridging the gap between theory and practical application, and engaged students in a manner that makes class learning exciting and fun. Facilitated courses include: Management, Marketing, Strategic Management, and Organizational Behavior.

Finding an organization where an employee centric culture exists is extremely important. My salary requirements are flexible as I move into new a new industry with shallow subject matter experience.

Attached is a copy of my resume, which more fully details my qualifications and accomplishments.

Thank you very kindly for your consideration.

Sincerely,

John Richardson
