CONSULTANT
Joined Caterpillar's Legacy team supporting ordering and invoice functions
on a CICS, DB2 MQ series platform.
Key Achievements:
. Resolved 64 diverse incident tickets including suspended data,
customer queries and systems problems.
. Designed a solution for a set of customer requests that required
understanding and discovering key solution points in a thousand
programs that were part of this run unit.
. Resolved issues resulting from failures between the new SAP warehouse
system and the Legacy application.
UST Global, Bentonville, AR
2011-2012
A leading provider of end-to-end IT services and solutions for Global 1000
companies utilizes a client-centric Global Engagement Model that combines
local, senior, on-site resources with the cost, scale, and quality
advantages of off-shore operations.
Associate Consultant
Provided technical leadership for four streams on the Year End Year
Beginning project for the customer's account. Each of these streams
required extracting data from DB2 tables, including complicated joins on
multiple tables.
UST GLOBAL (Continued)
Key Achievements:
. Designed a brand new process to collect the value of Wal-Mart
associates' benefit package for inclusion on 2012's W2 form. Data had
to be extracted from multiple DB2 tables including joins of these
tables. The data relationships on these tables required an extract
step to get the driver data for one of the programs, a joined cursor
to receive additional data about segment of the driver extract
population.
. Created a prototype for a Bentonville account Yammer social network
group. The idea was to provide a warm welcome to associates who are
new to the area by providing a place to access resources that are
needed when arriving in Bentonville.
INGRAM MICRO, WILLIAMSVILLE, NY
1995-2011
The world's largest technology distributor and a leading technology sales,
marketing, and logistics company with over
13, 000 employees.
TECHNICAL SPECIALIST
The Technical Specialist job title is multifunctional. As a Technical
Leader, wrote high level technical design, estimated project, supervised
coding changes, executed system test plan and prepared project for
implementation. In addition to technical leadership duties, functioned as
the Business Analyst by gathering customer requirements, documenting
current and future systems, writing business design, requirements and
system test plans. As an information technology subject matter expert for
a set of systems. Another function of the role was to act as a technical
expert in applications software. Lead team during international and
domestic large-scale implementations and small projects, including order
entry, product delivery, warehouse, freight, and tax regulation
applications. Insured overall stability and health of mainframe orders to
cash applications and external interfaces and reports. Project
documentation was created and maintained via Microsoft Office Suite (Word
templates, Excel, MS Project, Power Point and Visio) stored on Share Point.
Selected to communicate with groups throughout the organization, driving
excellence in technology initiatives while ensuring continued technology
growth to meet business needs. Communicated with offshore group and
internal teams. Provided outstanding customer support by reviewing and
responding to incident tickets, reviewing and approving change requests,
and serving as a backup for critical applications issues for management.
Consistently delivered a balance between business needs and regional group
needs while ensuring international system stability throughout North
America, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and Europe. Designed and delivered
effective training materials and provided class presentations necessary for
support of legacy system during outsourcing initiatives. Ingram Micro used
a blend of technologies including on-line COBOL with CICS and batch COBOL,
DB2, IMS, VSAM and GDGs for data storage, MQ Series to push data and
transactions, Web services, FTP, batch JCL, EDI and Control-M for job
scheduling.
Key Achievements:
. Provided technical guidance and leadership during the reorganization
of the sales staff compensation project through the implementation of
the flexible method to assign sales teams with appropriate
compensation. Project earned corporate recognition and significantly
reduced required changes to mainframe and client/server systems. DB2
was used to display the sales organization for a specific customer on
the CICS system.
. Led the redesign of the direct entry order system, enabling the
organization to recover the costs of shipping orders directly from
vendors. This project used IMS with some DB2 for historical data
retention.
. Key contributor in mapping legacy data into SAP for conversion in
customer, sales and materials areas. Worked with business to
standardize material categorization across the enterprise. Recognized
technical subject matter expert in legacy order entry, IMS and DB2.
. Selected to drive standards, change control board, protected program
implementation committees and provide training for off-shore provider
personnel.
. Streamlined programming changes across all order entry methods by
envisioning, proposing and proving a radical structural design change
in the organization's EDI system. The original EDI data was stored on
VSAM but the new vision leveraged the relational flexibility of DB2.
. Reduced overall costs within mainframe storage and servers by
analyzing and removing unnecessary predecessor jobs for the batch
cycles. Efforts reduced the Canada batch cycle process by 60 minutes.
ingram micro (Continued)
. Key contributor to converting the freight operations within the German
warehouse to a new carrier selection model. The German business group
selected a new client server carrier selection tool. The order entry
system had to be modified to capture freight information about an
order if the order needed to be handled differently than the
enterprise, branch or customer's normal freight default settings. If
backordered, the enterprise, branch or customer's freight defaults had
to be added to the backorder. I worked with the German user group to
continually adapt to their changing requirements, documented changes,
updated test plans and directed the team of developers to deliver the
revisions to their order entry programs. This project was both IMS
and DB2 intensive. DB2 was used to house the information from order
entry to the German warehouse system. For backorders, it was
necessary to transfer the order entry information from the original
order to the backorder.
. Designed and delivered two new programs to provide interfacing between
the SAP inventory and the mainframe. Program linked the SAP sales
order to inventory purchase order on the mainframe, while reporting
errors between the two systems to ensure stability. These were batch
DB2 programs.

were met on time and in budget.
Key Achievements:
. Recognized with the EDS prestigious signature reward for surpassing
all goals in supporting the new banking system for Bank One; reduced
batch cycle runtime, eliminated computer charges and increased system
availability.
. Served as Substitute Team Leader for Production Support Team; reduced
batch cycle run time by merging two programs into one so that only one
pass was needed to produce one resulting file. (This replaced two
programs reading the same input file and a sort to combine those
programs. Shaved 20 minutes off the critical path to on-line.)
