• Provide care for patients within the 10 bed Observation Unit. Perform H&P, determine admission

orders and appropriate treatment plan, order and interpret diagnostic testing. Manage treatment

plan for patients during their 24-48 hour course of care. Common patient population: CP/ACS

rule-out, cellulitis, COPD exacerbation, syncope, TIA, trauma, pneumonia, dehydration,

decompensated HF, DKA. Facilitate consults, discuss care/disposition with PCP and admit to

hospital if needed. Provide patient education and prepare discharge summaries.

• Evaluate patients in the Rapid Medical Triage/Minor Care area. Order and interpret diagnostic

testing, provide treatment, patient education and review discharge summary and prescriptions.

Facilitate consults. Evaluate and initiate orders on acute care patients.

• Evaluate patients in Acute Care. Provide full spectrum evaluation and treatment for non-trauma

patients upon presentation to the Emergency Department.

• Quality Control: Review of all plain film x-ray interpretations completed within the prior 24 hours

for discrepancies in diagnosis, treatment and/or follow-up. Review of daily STI, culture &

sensitivity reports. Calling patients to change antibiotic as needed, discuss follow-up.
