Working as a Associate Project Engineer, you will be the support person for various PAPI Growth Industries Solutions engineering projects in Process Automation Process Industries (PAPI), providing technical details, costs and deliverables for sales proposals.

In this role, you will be providing hands on technical support role under the direction of a Project Engineer, Engineering Manager and Project Manager to perform standard engineering practices, using engineering principles, on all phases of project execution. We are looking for a candidate that is professional, responsible, curious with a desire to learn; as well as the design and engineering skills needed to develop an integrated control/automation solution to meet customer requirements

Your responsibilities

Hands on engineer for assigned control/automation design and development tasks from project kick off through project start up

Perform challenging engineering assignments and activities on select automation projects

Will monitor progress, comply with quality and schedule requirements and help in process improvement efforts for assigned projects

Work with designers to develop submittal documentation (including: BOMs, device lists, schematics, layouts, specifications, "as built" packages and procedures)

Traveling to customer sites to install commission and testing of control/ automation systems

Your background

Bachelor's degree in engineering, technology, or physical sciences preferred and 0 to 3 years of experience and interest in:

Fieldbus and other industrial communications protocols and techniques for exchanging data among control/monitoring devices

Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) / Distributed control system (DCS) programming Robotics Systems

Control panel design and low voltage power distribution

System integration/electrical controls design and engineering including integration of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) into control solutions

Computer skills including OS setup in addition to application usage

IP network skills

Organization and planning skills

Excellent communication and analytical skills

Strong troubleshooting aptitude

Travel between 50 percent to 75 percent is required

Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
