Description
This position is responsible to help support the City of Merriam's mission in helping to present a well-maintained, clean, and sanitary City properties; these duties will be performed in a safe manner, while promoting the City of Merriam's values.
Essential Functions
Prepares concession cart for daily opening and closing; stocking cart and cleaning/sanitizing cart
Waits on patrons and prepares items for consumption; including use microwave oven and a hot dog machine
Operates cash register and handles money
Assists in daily cash reporting (closing out register)
Maintains cleanliness of aquatic areas; ensuring trash receptacles are emptied, sweeping, etc.
Enforces height requirements for slide safety
Operates power and emergency switch for slides
Attends to the top or bottom on water slide platform to give directions to patrons
Promotes City values at all times
Wears appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary
Other duties as assigned. Requirements
Must be at least 16 years of age
Must be physically capable of working outside during summer months and in an indoor pool environment
Must be able to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and attend mandatory trainings and meetings, as required
Current American Red Cross Waterpark Lifeguard certification, or ability to obtain
CPR for Professional Rescuer certification, or ability to obtain
Must be a strong swimmer with ability to perform rescue functions in water and on land
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and to follow oral and /or written instruction
Ability to analyze situations and use effective judgement in response
Ability to remain alert for long periods of time
Ability to work without the need for close supervision; keeping personal safety in mind
Ability to work outdoors in hot weather and on hard and sometimes slippery surfaces
Ability to work in a climate-controlled indoor pool environment
Basic math skills
Ability to work in distracting conditions
