Responsibilities:

This role is part of the BEF Quality and Food Safety Excellence (QFSE) Function. Reporting to the Vice President of QFSE – this role has accountability for the risk assessments, risk management solutions and risk communication systems regarding Food Safety, Quality and Compliance. QFSE is an integral part in finding resolutions and this role is accountable for bringing the right scientific data and method to the resolution process.

Serve as a business partner to QFSE department – the primary contact for technical expertise regarding food safety, Quality and compliance risks.

Identify and manage network of internal and external technical experts to support risk assessment and management. Manage pipeline of assessments and validation projects to ensure timely completion.

Provide the inputs for the development of BEF internal resolution processes. Codify all QFSE processes into the Quality manual.

Develop KPIs and evaluate metrics data to assess and verify the robustness of the QMS with respect to risk evaluation and report or escalate to stakeholders

Develop and drive continuous improvement in the BEF Quality management system (QMS) - specifically the systems, processes and capabilities involved in risk assessment and management.

Assess the need for and develop or identify appropriate tools and training to grow the BEF capabilities for management of Quality, Food safety and regulatory Compliance Risks.

Provide technical support and solutions as needed for situations or challenges involving Quality, Food safety and regulatory Compliance for BEF

Develop, enhance, implement, and manage the Environmental Monitoring Program and the Food Safety Programs

Investigate critical microbiological situations to assess and prioritize issues and deliver recommendations in a timely manner.

Implement cost effective corrective measures resulting in minimal disruption to the business.

Root cause analysis investigation of food safety incidents and effective implementation of corrective/preventive actions.

Utilize expert knowledge base and skills to analyze, evaluate and communicate results while interfacing with internal and external contacts.

Develop, implement, and proactively improve Food Safety and Microbiological programs in the plants, identifying changes to minimize microbiological risks to the business and to maintain strong preventative programs.

Lead and champion implementation of microbial programs (e.g., FP testing, in process, and environmental monitoring, etc.)

Assist in the development and delivery of Micro related training programs.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a field that ensures a high level of understanding of Microbiology, Food Science & food safety fundamentals and quality management in food products. Advanced Degree (M.S., Ph.D.) preferred.

Experience in Food Manufacturing & Microbiology Lab (minimum of 8 years) - with a broad understanding of Industry standards and best practices and regulatory compliance.

Profound knowledge of state and federal Regulations governing food safety and quality of BEF product portfolio. Certified in HACCP &/or PCQI.

Experience with providing microbiological risk assessments for CPG industry using predictive modeling & statistical analysis tools.

Experience in working with food safety regulatory bodies (FDA, FSIS etc.).

Experience with experimental design and validation of preventive controls.

Food safety risk, identification and management, HACCP/FSMA and prerequisite controls

Profound Knowledge of GMP, food allergens, pest control, sanitation, and food safety regulations

Experience with GFSI Quality Systems such as SQF, BRC, FSSC22000, ISO9000 or ISO17025

Adept at remote learning, research, and risk communication

Must be able to champion GMP and safety policies and procedures
