We are actively searching for an individual for a newly created Human Resources Generalist position that will be based in our new Customer Solutions Center and ABS Compounding facility in Ravenna, OH. The position will report to the Human Resources Manager.

Summary

The HR Generalist position is an onsite full-time position at LG Chem Ohio Petrochemical, Inc (LGCOP). The HR Generalist will be responsible for supporting all aspects of the Human Resources function at LGCOP, to include recruiting and employee relations, benefit administration, performance and training, and legal HR compliance. The HR Generalist will partner and engage with the leadership team to support LGCOP’s company culture and core values.

Recruiting and Staffing

Manage and oversee the recruiting process for candidate levels: exempt, non-exempt and production employees.

Ensure open positions are posted according to LGCOP guidelines, review candidate applications and resumes, and share with the hiring team.

Assist with staffing agency contracts and/or communications.

Manage pre-employment screening activities for new hires.

Manage new hire onboarding in line with company goals and core values.

Participate in succession and career planning.

Assist HR Manager in managing partnerships and relationships with local area vocation schools, colleges, and universities.

Prepare termination notices and related documentation. Coordinate and/or conduct exit interviews.

Benefits Administration

Assist HR Manager with administering employee communication for benefits programs including health/dental/vision insurance, life & disability insurances, 401k plans, PTO, sick leave, leaves of absence, and employee assistance (EAP).

Participate in industry wage surveys within our local labor market to determine competitive wage rate. Maintain understanding of LGCOP’s compensation program to ensure compliance and equity within the organization.

Submit vouchers and invoices for payment to HR service providers in LG Chem’s Enterprise Resource Planning system (SAP).

Assist HR Manager in partnering with Third Party Administrator (TPA) and Managed Care Organization (MCO) to investigate and resolve WC incidents when they arise.

Employee Relations, Performance & Training

Respond to initial inquiries and assist HR Manager in resolving employee policies, procedures, programs, relations issues and general questions.

Assist HR Manager with managing goal setting, annual performance evaluation process, and merit planning process.

Assist HR Manager with coordinating employee training including management training in HR topics such as sexual harassment; supervisor training; and career path/production training.

Support EHS department with EHS specific initiatives or activities (Safety Committee, First Responders, etc.)

Culture, Employee Engagement & Recognition

Partner with the LGCOP leadership team to support company culture and core values.

Assist HR Manager in preparing company communications to employees.

Assist HR Manager with leading the site Employee Engagement Committee.

Assist HR Manager with managing the employee recognition program and make recommendations for other retention/recognition programs.

Coordinate seasonal employee events and regular All Employee Communication meetings.

Assist LGCOP leadership team with coordination of visitor hospitality as needed.

Legal & Compliance

Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.

Maintain LGCOP Employee Handbook.

Assist HR Manager in creating and updating LGCOP HR standard operating procedures (SOP).

Maintain personnel files including all transactions such as hires, terminations, promotions, performance reviews, and employee statistics for government reporting.

Respond to unemployment and disability claims.

Education and/or Experience

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

Prior experience in a Human Resources environment in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

SHRM CP or PHR certification is preferred.
