Job Description:

The QC Geotechnical Laboratory and Field Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of geotechnical testing and analysis in construction projects. This position involves overseeing both laboratory and field operations to ensure compliance with industry standards, project specifications, and safety regulations. The manager is responsible for leading a team of technicians, maintaining equipment, and delivering accurate and timely geotechnical data to support construction projects.

Major Roles and Responsibilities:

The roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Team Leadership: Supervise and provide leadership to a team of geotechnical technicians, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation. Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the team.

Laboratory Operations: Oversee and manage geotechnical laboratory facilities, equipment, and resources. Ensure that all laboratory testing procedures adhere to industry standards and project requirements. Conduct and review geotechnical tests, including soil classification, compaction, and triaxial tests. Maintain accurate records of laboratory testing results and ensure data integrity.

Quality Assurance: Develop and implement quality control and quality assurance procedures for geotechnical testing, both in the laboratory and the field. Review and analyze data to identify deviations, errors, or inconsistencies and take corrective actions as necessary.

Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and calibrate laboratory and field-testing equipment regularly to ensure accuracy and reliability. Coordinate repairs and servicing of equipment when needed.

Reporting and Documentation: Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, including laboratory and field findings, interpretations, and recommendations. Communicate results to project managers, engineers, and clients as required.

Compliance and Safety: Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, regulations, and industry standards in all laboratory and field activities. Stay up to date with industry advancements and regulatory changes.

Project Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and construction teams to provide geotechnical support and address issues as they arise. Participate in project meetings and contribute to project planning and decision-making.

Minimum Qualification and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.

A professional engineering license or geotechnical certification is preferred.

5+ years of experience in geotechnical laboratory and field operations, with supervisory or managerial experience.

Strong knowledge of geotechnical testing methods, equipment, and industry standards.

Proficiency in geotechnical software and data analysis tools.

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Strong commitment to safety and quality assurance.
