Geotechnical Consultants Inc. (GCI) is a 44-year-old civil engineering company specializing in geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, field and construction services, special inspections, building envelope consulting, and steel testing throughout the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions. We are seeking a full-time Structural Steel Inspector, in the Columbus, OH area. The NDE technician will perform on-site observations of steel construction projects. GCI is looking for individuals who enjoy working outside, ability to work independently, excellent client communication skills, “can do” attitude, willingness to learn new concepts, and ability to achieve needed testing certifications.

General Roles and Responsibilities:

· Perform on-site observations of steel construction projects.

· Consistent communication with construction managers and construction crew to observe the quality of the steel erection.

· Responsible for reporting and tracking any discrepancies through the completion of the project.

· Authority to reject and resolve conflict within scope of authority.

Qualifications:

· Successful candidate must hold a current AWS-CWI or ICC-S1 & S2 certification.

· 5+ years of experience as a welding inspector or in a quality control position is preferred.

· Proficient in reading and interpreting project drawings and specifications with a minimum qualification level of Level I for MT, PT, or UT.

· Experience in the construction or fabrication industries along with an Associate Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Construction Engineering is preferred.

· Legally authorized to work in the United States, without restrictions.

· Ability to pass drug test and background check. Background check results must be acceptable for entrance to government sites and chemical plants.

· Valid driver’s license with motor vehicle record in compliance with Company and DOT policies.

· Effective speaking and written communication skills in English.

· Able to safely traverse construction sites

· Ability to travel up to 4 hours a day and walk/stand up to 8 hours a day

· Desire to work outside in all weather conditions
