NORMAL SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM

OVERTIME: May be required during peak seasons; shift lengths may increase to 9-10 hours M-F and/or occasional Saturday shifts

PAY FREQUENCY: Weekly, On Fridays

WAGE: Starting at $18.25, depending on experience

JOB SUMMARY

The Sewing Machine Operator is responsible for operating sewing machines to stitch, hem, join, reinforce, or sew products per company specifications. This role demands precision, attention to detail, and efficiency to ensure the quality and timely completion of sewing tasks.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or equivalent

Proficiency in using industrial sewing machines and related equipment

Proven experience as a sewing machine operator or similar role in a manufacturing environment highly preferred

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to read and interpret technical documents, such as sewing patterns, sew notes, and other specifications.

Knowledge of different types of fabrics and their characteristics.

Ability to change needles and re-thread machine properly.

Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

Attention to detail and quality assurance.

Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.

Basic math skills for measuring and calculating fabric dimensions.

Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and production demands.

Familiarity with safety procedures and practices in a manufacturing setting.

Ability to maintain consistent attendance, arriving on time and prepared for all shifts, meetings, and appointments.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES, EXPECTATIONS, AND BEHAVIORS include, but are not limited to, the following:

Operate industrial sewing machines to sew fabric pieces together according to provided instructions and specifications.

Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and correct any defects or inconsistencies.

Perform routine maintenance on sewing machines, such as cleaning and oiling, to ensure proper functioning.

Collaborate with team members and supervisors to prioritize tasks and meet production deadlines.

Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.

Maintain a clean and organized workspace to facilitate efficient workflow.

Communicate any issues or concerns regarding materials, equipment, or processes to appropriate personnel.

Demonstrate a positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn and improve skills.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

Use hands to touch, handle, manipulate, and feel; the employee will constantly talk or hear.

Work in front of a sewing machine.

Stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms

Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision ability required by this job includes close viewing, peripheral and color vision.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job an employee's activities include regular and/or repeated sitting, walking, standing, bending and is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in work environment is usually moderate.
