Our Packaging Machinery & Automation facility in Smyrna, GA is at the forefront of designing and creating high-speed, automated packaging machinery for our diverse customer base. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead our dynamic team in the design and development of cutting-edge packaging equipment.

Responsibilities:

Project Leadership:

Lead the design of high-speed, automated packaging machinery, overseeing mechanical layout, component sourcing, and BOM generation.

Collaborate with project managers, manufacturing, supply chain, and electrical engineers to ensure timely and specification-compliant project completion.

Team Management:

Set standards for the team, assign projects, and establish priorities.

Drive development projects by directing cross-functional teams and managing subcontractors to meet design requirements.

Customer Relations:

Establish and maintain relationships with customer-facing organizations, vendors, and suppliers.

Understand customer's mechanical specifications and needs for packaging operations.

Technical Expertise:

Conduct root cause analysis, perform diagnostics, and troubleshoot equipment.

Provide machine production and installation support, offering cost-effective solutions while maintaining design integrity.

Administrative Responsibilities:

Develop budgets, schedules, and educational training programs.

Collaborate with Technical Sales managers on platform production projects.

Respond to inquiries, troubleshoot issues, and provide studies and estimates.

Safety and Environment:

Ensure a safe and positive work environment for the team.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

5+ years of engineering experience, preferably with a focus on high-speed, automated machinery.

Experience in organizational change management.

Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 and GD&T.

Experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.

Packaging Machinery Equipment experience is a plus.

Additional licensure or certification may be required.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.

Practical experience with CAD software, PLM systems, and engineering change management.

Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.

Excellent motivational and multitasking abilities.

Ability to travel 10-15%, including international travel to our sister plant in France.
