PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Assemble and fit plates and sections to form structures. Weld or bolt sections together, lay out
reference points and patterns, work to drawings and sketches.
Interpret welding process specifications. Operate manual or semi-automatic welding machines.
Must be able to read blueprints, drawings. Minimum or no supervision is required.
TYPICAL TOOLS and EQUIPMENT:
All machinery and equipment applicable lift trucks, cranes, etc., as required,
Measuring tools, gauges, cutting torches, grinders, drills etc. as required,
PPE (welding helmet), gloves, hard hat, goggles, face shield etc. as required,
TYPICAL MATERIALS:
Ferrous and non-ferrous castings, forgings, weldments, assemblies, raw materials, fixtures, etc.
Plate material, structural metal, HSS, angle plate, etc.
TYPICAL JOB DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reports to General Foreman / Production Supervisor
Work from written or verbal instructions.
Welding techniques: FCAW, GMAW, Oxy-acetylene torch cutting.
Operate crane, lift truck as required, some hand lifting up to 50 lb.
Hand dress, de-burr, grind, file etc. as required.
Maintain work area clean and safe. Must be a Team Player. Some shift work and overtime
may be required. Also, perform additional duties set by supervisor, as required.
TYPICAL EDUCATION / TRAINING REQUIRMENTS:
High school diploma or partial, good communication skills, technical aptitude,
Vocational training, welder / fitter ticket preferred
