Reports to: Executive Director

Job Summary:

The Director of Social Services is responsible for overseeing and managing all social service programs within the organization. They will develop and implement effective strategies and policies to meet the social welfare needs of the community. The Director will also collaborate with other departments and community stakeholders to ensure the delivery of comprehensive and high-quality services to individuals and families in need.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop, implement, and evaluate social service programs to meet the needs of the community.

2. Manage and supervise a team of social workers, counselors, case managers, and support staff.

3. Provide leadership and guidance to staff, ensuring their continued professional development and adherence to ethical standards.

4. Establish and maintain partnerships with local government agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders to strengthen the social service network.

5. Monitor program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement based on data and evaluation findings.

6. Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements regarding the provision of social services.

7. Oversee the budget for social service programs, seeking additional funding opportunities through grants and fundraising efforts.

8. Develop and maintain relationships with funding sources, including government agencies and private foundations.

9. Act as a liaison between the organization and external agencies, advocating for the needs of clients and ensuring timely and appropriate referral and coordination of services.

10. Stay updated on current social and community issues, trends, and best practices in the field of social services.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in social work, human services, psychology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

2. Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in social services, preferably in a supervisory or managerial role.

3. Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations governing the provision of social services.

4. Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

5. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

6. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain partnerships with diverse stakeholders.

7. Experience with budget management and grant writing is desirable.

8. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.

9. High level of integrity, empathy, and cultural sensitivity.
