Job Description

Responsible to: Executive Pastor

Working Relationships: Explore & Grow Team, Children’s Director, Business office director, HR coordinator, Facilities, Director

Scope of Position: The Explore & Grow Ministry Director will be responsible for the administrative oversight and direction of the Explore & Grow Christian Learning Center in coordination and support from Kentwood Community Church (KCC) Executive Department. The Ministry Director will accomplish his/her duties through leadership using Biblical principles in every area of responsibility.

Time Commitment: Full Time Avg 45 hours per week Classification: Salary, Exempt

Typical Duties:

Business Area

Establish department goals, objectives and systems that support and accomplish KCC’s mission by prioritizing related programs, managing the use of facilities, delegating tasks and evaluating progress regularly.

Supervise systems that meet state and local regulations and reporting mechanisms for state food program, nutritional & preparation requirements, facilities and DHS reporting.

Responsible for the implementation and management of all safety requirements as required by the state for children.

Develop and monitor the annual budget.

Collaborate with the Assistant Director and Program Director to ensure that all renewals, procedures and requirements are documented and current.

Define policies of admission, attendance, tuition and educational goals in compliance with KCC’s policies.

Education Area

Develop and recruit a Leadership Team of Early Childhood Specialists to help provide evaluation and measurement criteria for spiritual, educational & program direction and its effectiveness.

Manage the implementation of quality programs and services for children and their families and establish criteria for evaluation for the same.

Manage program within guidelines for Great Start Connect to ensure a high level of quality.

Collaborate with Assistant Director and Program Director in planning Christmas Program, Spring Sing, and implementation of other programs.

Work with staff to ensure a well-rounded program that both reach out to lost children and raise up children to be fully devoted followers of Christ.

People Area

Work closely with Children’s Ministry Director to correlate program with Explore & Grow children and the KCC children’s ministry through bridging events with weekend programming.

Manage and evaluate the work of all the Explore & Grow staff by encouraging teamwork and mutual support by providing leadership and cultivation to staff members, through a fully encompassed training program.

Work closely with the Executive Pastor to create and implement ministries that support the overall strategic goals of KCC.

Develop meaningful relationships with parents of children, serving also as resource to families with parenting and family support.

Develop relationships with parents through tours, meetings and conversations as needed.

Hire new staff and oversee scheduling.

Position Requirements:

Minimum educational requirement for the Director Position set forth by the State of Michigan Department of Childcare Licensing.

Previous Director Experience, minimum of 5 years

CPR training, Blood Borne Training Annually

State required training and professional development

Fully devoted disciple of Christ

Member of Kentwood Community Church within 6 months of employment

Excellent communication skills

Business experience and conflict resolution skills
