Zepf Center has been serving the Lucas County community for nearly 50 years. We are the leading provider of behavioral health and substance use disorder services in Northwest Ohio. Services include adult and child psychiatric, substance abuse, case management, residential, Crisis Care, and therapy programs, as well as career development and wellness services. Zepf Center also offers primary care medical services to our patients to contribute to their continuum of care. Zepf Center is a trauma-informed agency and environment for both patients and staff.

The Bachelor Level Social Work Intern will become familiar with the Zepf Center’s mission, vision, and services through an array of trainings and shadowing opportunities. The Intern will gain an understanding of ethical practices and the Social Work code of conduct in day-to-day examples. The intern will work closely with supervisor and other staff to gain knowledge of the agency programming as well as basic social work skills. The person in this position provides services within Zepf facilities and, when appropriate, in the client's natural environment. HIPAA regulations will be observed at all times to protect the patient's privacy and maintain confidentiality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Attend thorough orientation of the agency, understand the history, mission, vision, organizational structure, funding, services, strategic plan, policies and regulations, and service delivery.

Learn and adheres to The National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics at all times.

Learn and follows all policy and procedures of the agency and engage in policy practice.

Complete an array of agency trainings to build upon social work skills.

Participates in weekly supervision and team meetings as available.

Consults and collaborates with other agency staff.

Shadowing direct services, sessions, groups in departments of interest.

May participate in community work, outreach, marketing, agency-wide projects and serve on committees/teams.

May participate in co-facilitation or supportive assistant to groups or programs.

Advance the Human, Social, Racial, Economic and Environmental Rights of individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities.

Engage in anti-racism, diversity, equity and inclusion practices.

Learn and understand research practices the agency utilizes.

Engage, assess, intervene, and evaluate individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Specific/Individual Competencies:

CPR and First Aid

Crisis Intervention (CPI) TrainingRequirements:

Qualifications:

Enrolled in the Final year of Social Work bachelor’s degree program.

Clinical Interns will strive to meet the requirements outlined by the school’s social work program and will share these expectations as well as faculty contact information with the clinical supervisor.

Receives offer letter from Internship Coordinator and, after accepting, signs an agency site agreement for their University and the identified site supervisor.

Meets all on-boarding requirements for employees such as background check, TB testing, drug screening etc.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer and standing, bending, and moving.

Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at times.

Ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Environmental Condition

Air-conditioned and/or heated office setting

time spent “in the field”, which could involve driving to residences, schools, doctor’s offices, and various locations in the community.

Could also include transporting patients to and from appointment.
