Tax Credit Allocation Officer

Join Virginia Housing and help make a difference as a Tax Credit Allocation Officer.

This important role will assist in the establishment, implementation and enforcement of affordable housing policy through the federal Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) Program. The role relies on highly interactive stakeholder collaboration surrounding changes to the Qualified Allocation Plan (QAP); training developers on the complexities of the federal Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Program and the application process via workshops and focus groups. The position reviews 4% and 9% LIHTC applications using various financial and underwriting techniques. The role also includes a wide array of pre- and post-construction compliance efforts.

To be successful in this role you must possess:

BA or BS, in business, accounting, land use planning, real estate or related degree and/or equivalent, relevant work experience.

Several years working in tax credit, real estate, housing or affordable housing related field(s)

Knowledge of the Tax Credit program regulations, schedules and application information.

Proficient in Microsoft Office with mastery of Excel and PowerPoint.

Ability to effectively communicate with business partners and external stakeholders, delivering information to audiences of all sizes in different forums.

Ability to make sound decisions and to enforce strict requirements while being challenged.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

A valid driver’s license.

The ideal candidate would also have:

Deep understanding of IRC Section 42 and familiarity with ProLink

Hiring Range: $90,181-$117,234
