INFORMATION ABOUT THE MOBILE TRAINING OFFICER POSITION:

Ohio Department of Public Safety - Ohio School Safety Center

**THESE POSITIONS WILL REQUIRE DAILY TRAVEL TO LOCATIONS WITHIN THEIR ASSIGNEDAREA UTILIZING A STATE VEHICLE**

**APPLICANTS MUST LIVE WITHIN A 50 MILE RADIUS OF THEIR ASSIGNED REGION**

Job Duties:

In assigned region, serve in a fiduciary capacity to plan, direct, coordinate & implement all activities, policies & procedures pertaining to the Ohio School Safety Center (OSSC) Mobile Crisis Division &Training Program (e.g., provide program direction & respond to programmatic issues &/or needs; lead&/or monitor task forces; plan, write & implement goals & objectives for assigned region; serve as a liaison between administrator & regional contacts & transmits decisions &/or directives); Serve as the face of the OSSC Mobile Crisis Division & Training program in assigned region/zone & facilitate information sharing; Work with the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) 16 State Support Teams, regional liaisons & regional school resource officers to deliver comprehensive school safety services to schools; Develop curriculum & provide instruction & training on topics identified within H.B. 99 to include tactical live firearms training, that individuals may complete in order to satisfy the criterion specified in ORC 2923.122 (D)(1) (d)(i); Enter into agreements to secure training staff & experts, facilities, range time,&/or other items necessary to conduct periodic training; Provide services regarding school & campus safety & security to public & nonpublic primary & secondary schools; Assist administrators of a public or nonpublic school within the officer's region with any other security protocols for activities or events outside of a school building during or after school hours, upon request; Assist in strategic communications between federal, state, & local law enforcement agencies in the event of an emergency situation at a school or an institution of higher education within the officer's region; Formulate &implement policy & programs at the regional level (e.g., analyze & evaluate regional programs, procedures & polices; provide technical advice to aid administrators in decision making; implement statewide policy & programming in regards to school safety programs; implement statewide best practices in various school safety topics as developed by regional administrator); Operate state vehicle in order to conduct site visits with schools & first responders.

Oversee training operations & offer training opportunities for school employees, which may include observing emergency management plan tests, providing weapons manipulation instruction, & other appropriate activities; Offer tactical emergency medical services training to public & nonpublic schools within the officer's region; Assist administrators within the officer's region with the development or review of an emergency management plan; Partner with regional liaisons to provide comprehensive school safety services to schools that includes both physical & emotional safety; Promote the use of the Safer Ohio School Tip Line within the officers region/zone.

Foster strategic partnerships set by the OSSC & conduct regular meetings with stakeholders to share information & updates; Collect contact information for locally based resources for regional & statewide contact directory; Provide information for the annual school safety report specific to schools & first responders in assigned region; Assist with the development & implementation of the annual statewide summit; Attend & participate in meetings; Perform other related duties as assigned.

Program area to be assigned: Completion of undergraduate core program in homeland security, emergency management, political science, public safety, criminal justice, business or public administration, education, mental health and counseling or related field.

**This position is remote but will require travel to & from schools several days per week by state assigned vehicle**

** Position is unclassified pursuant to ORC 124.11(A)(9) and serves at the pleasure of the appointing authority **

4 yrs. trg. or 4 yrs. exp. in business administration management science or public administration.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, management science or public administration; 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in supervisory, administrative &/or managerial position.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in academic field commensurate with program area to be assigned per approved Position Description on file; 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in supervisory, administrative &/or managerial position or staff position involving planning, research &/or policy/procedure development.

-Or 1 yr. exp. as Program Administrator 1, 63122.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

POSITION SPECIFIC MINIMUM QUALFICATION:

Licensed peace officer as defined in division (A)(1) of section 109.71 of the Ohio Revised Code; or a veteran as defined in division (A) of section 5502.701.

Valid Driver’s License Required.
