We are looking for a BIM Drafter for our Columbus office!

Summary: Develop and produce shop/installation drawings of Kingspan insulated metal panels in commercial, industrial, cold storage and architectural applications within BIM software such as Tekla or Revit. It will also involve providing support to end users of the various systems and coordination with the project design team on an as needed basis.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

Develop Kingspan shop drawings in BIM software as defined in the scope of work provided by customer submitted drawings and specs.

Interpret information from internal order acknowledgement (products sold) and customer supplied structural and/or architectural plans.

Draw floor plan, elevations, and details per Kingspan drafting and product standards.

Coordinate panel analysis with Kingspan engineering personnel.

Review and update drawings to customer redline corrections as needed.

Produce bill of material (BOM) list in company format from final approved set of drawings when required.

Provide take-offs on every project to verify material that will need to be ordered by customer service.

Interface with required internal and external project stakeholders.

Provide Technical Support to customers who use Revit or Tekla for designing, detailing, and ordering.

Provide Technical Support, assistance and training to internal teams on the use of both standards and bespoke solutions including Revit and Tekla.

Work closely with key customers and designers to research current best practices, receive feedback and help with strategic company decisions regarding CAD/BIM interaction.

All other duties as directed.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

Associates Degree (or higher), Technical degree or appropriate level of related experience

Experience of the construction industry, and the structural steel or cladding industry.

5 years+ knowledge and experience 3D modelling system – preferably Revit, and/or TeklaStructures.

Experience with collaboration between teams in the design process and between different CAD and 3D modelling technologies.

Solid understanding of BIM, and IFC standards.

Good communication and mathematical skills.

Ability to meet deadlines and problem solve with minimal supervision.

Desired Skills:

Knowledge of working with other CAD systems such as AutoCAD

Knowledge of working with other BIM compatible platforms or IFC viewers

Experience with customizing CAD platforms either in the native CAD Platform or via an application interface.

Familiarity with or knowledge of 3D visualization tools

Background in Construction Studies, Architectural Technology, Building Information Modelling and Management or Mechanical Engineering would be of benefit.

Experience dealing with the conceptual design industry would be an advantage.
