Ultium Cells, LLC. is a joint venture Lithium-ion automotive battery cell manufacturing plant between LG Energy Solution, Ltd., and General Motors. This high-technology plant is a new construction that will have the latest in battery cell manufacturing technology. This $2.3 billion investment will be among the largest battery cell manufacturing plants in the world. Ultium Cells will produce battery cells for General Motors’ North American electric vehicle applications.

Job Description:
We are seeking a Facilities Mechanical Technician for our facility. We are looking for a skilled Facilities Mechanical Technician who has experience with industrial and manufacturing equipment maintenance. We operate a safe, clean facility and consider safety and security our top priorities, so we are looking for a professional whose values reflect our own. This role will apply mechanical expertise to insure the safe and reliable operation of site process plant and reduce operating costs. This is accomplished by executing assigned work according to plan and schedule, noting any job plan deviations, and providing input on improvement opportunities.
Job Responsibilities:
The qualified candidate will inspect, repair, replace, install, adjust and maintain all mechanical equipment in the plant environment. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and detailed repair drawings related to manufacturing equipment and machinery.
Respond to tasks as directed by maintenance supervision with the appropriate sense of urgency to minimize impact to process units.
Monitors field construction activities and provide progress/status updates to management.
Acquiring all necessary parts, tools, and instructions prior to starting the job to maximize work efficiency.
Work with site construction contractors and project personnel to complete task in a safe and timely manner.
Completing all documentation using a computerized maintenance management system.
Align and calibrate machinery and equipment parts as required for efficient and safe operation.
Grind, file and weld machinery parts both on-site and in controlled circumstances.
Align machines and equipment using measuring instruments.
Test unit to evaluate its mechanical operation.
Repair and lubricate machines and equipment.
Assemble and install equipment using proper hand and power tools.
Ensure contractors comply with equipment inspection & test plans (ITP's).
Will work with and on equipment that has hazardous chemicals as needed.
Qualifications and Competencies:
High School diploma or GED required
Trade School Certificate, Associate's Degree or equivalent experience is required
Five years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Experience with mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics is required
Welding, torching, grinding and fabricating experience
Basic shop math skills
Basic computer and communications skills needed
Equipment Selection -- Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
Repairing -- machines or systems using the correct tools
Troubleshooting -- Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it
Complex Problem Solving -- Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
Equipment Maintenance -- Performing routine and preventative maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed
Reading Comprehension -- Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents
Knowledge of proper rigging of equipment or material loads for cranes
