The Experienced Welder will be responsible for production welding, service & repair welding, prototype building and fitter welding in a high paced production environment. This role will work with supervisors to ensure continuous improvements in work cells, hitting quotas, welding according to pre-set parameters using MIG, ARC and TIG welding processes.

Responsibilities

Conduct repairs, modifications and retrofits

Conduct technical inspections

Fabrication of custom prototypes from supplied drawings, fabrication of custom jigs and fixtures

Perform maintenance on returned products to be refurbished or re-worked to customer specifications

Keep detailed and accurate reports and documentation

Operate manual or semi automatic flame cutting equipment

Operate brazing and soldering equipment

Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded

Repair machinery and other components

Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws

Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety

Conduct project review and planning

Fuel tank and card lock repairs

Education & Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent required

College or post secondary education is preferred

AWS D1.1 SMAW Certification required

Previous experience in Heavy Truck, Automotive or related industry experience preferred

Other Skills and Abilities Required

Ensure compliance of all OHSA regulations, as well as Rush's Heath and Safety

Assist in development or repair estimates

Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance and repair techniques

Strong interpersonal skills and customer focused

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work independently in a busy environment

Experience with routine maintenance operations

Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing

Strong attention to detail
