POSITION SUMMARY:

The National is looking for an on-call Cook who will be responsible for controlling quantity and quality production of all food items in kitchen accordance with established standards and safety and sanitation policies.

ESSENTIAL TASKS:

• Follows directions from Sous Chef in delegating workload and in ensuring a high level of quality according to recipes and standards.

• Responsible for controlling quantity of production.

• Prepares food items required by assigned department.

• Assembles and distributes foods following prescribed recipes.

• Decorates and garnishes all prepared foods.

• Checks and controls seasoning and appearance of all food.

• Reports any maintenance problems or other problem areas to supervisor as they occur.

• Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned at the discretion of the manager. Tasks and responsibilities may be added or revised based on the volume of business and the need for the work to be completed at the present time.

• Follows The National's policies and procedures and safety and sanitation policies and procedures and ensures compliance with these policies and procedures.

• May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or overtime.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: Degree from a post-secondary culinary arts training program is desirable.

Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years Hotel/Restaurant cooking experience or equivalent. Institutional experience in large quantity preparation preferred. Must be able to assist in enforcing controls, procedures, quality, and quantity production. Some experience in supervising, delegating, and training preferred.
