DIESEL SHOP FOREMAN

As a Shop Foreman, you will play a vital role in overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the shop. You will be responsible for supervising a team of mechanics, ensuring that work is completed efficiently, accurately, and in a timely manner. Your strong leadership skills, technical knowledge, and problem-solving abilities will contribute to the success of the shop and the satisfaction of our customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise and manage a team of mechanics/technicians, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.

Allocate work assignments to technicians and ensure that work is performed in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.

Monitor and review the progress of work orders, ensuring that deadlines are met and any issues or delays are promptly addressed.

Conduct regular inspections of work in progress and completed repairs to ensure quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications.

Assist in recruiting, screening, training, and evaluation of shop employees

Understand DOT laws amd regi;atopms

Troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical issues or problems, providing technical expertise and guidance to technicians

Coordinate and schedule maintenance and repair projects, ensuring that resources equipment, and materials are available and utilized efficiently

Maintain and update service records, including work orders, repair logs, and customer information, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies, promoting a safe and clean working enfironment for both employees and customers

collaborate with other departments or teams such as parts procurement or customer service, to facilitate smooth workflow and customer satisfaction

SKILLS

Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team effectively.

Excellent technical knowledge and expertise in automotive, machinery, or relevant mechanical systems.

Proficient in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical issues or problems.

Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Exceptional problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to finding solutions.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with team members, customers, and other stakeholders.

Sound decision-making skills, with the ability to make informed judgments and handle unexpected situations or challenges.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in automotive or mechanical fields is preferred.

At least 5 years' experience as a technician or mechanic, with a strong understanding of mechanical systems and repair procedures.

Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role, in a shop or service center environment.

Valid driver's license and Class A CDL

Knowledge of relevant safety regulations, compliance standards, and environmental guidelines.

Certification or licensure in relevant areas, such as Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification, is a plus.

Strong knowledge of shop equipment and tools, including diagnostic equipment and hand tools.
