Job Title: Systems Administrator

Background:

Starks Industries Inc. is planning to provide Information Technology (IT) Support Services to the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) for the District of Columbia. The OAG serves as the chief legal advisor and representative for the District, responsible for providing legal counsel, representing the District in legal matters, and advocating for the interests of its residents. The OAG plays a critical role in ensuring justice, protecting the rights of citizens, and upholding the rule of law within the District of Columbia.

Job Description:

We are seeking a Systems Administrator to join our IT Support Services team. The Systems Administrator will be responsible for administering, developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining operating systems and related software for the DC Child Support Enforcement System, ensuring its smooth operation and functionality.

Key Responsibilities:

System Administration: Administer, develop, and maintain operating systems and related software for the DC Child Support Enforcement System, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

Standards Establishment: Establish and implement standards for computer operations to ensure compatibility between hardware and software, according to specifications and parameters.

Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and resolve software, operating system, and networking problems, providing timely and effective solutions to minimize downtime.

Backup and Recovery: Schedule, perform, and monitor system backups, and perform data recoveries as necessary to safeguard critical information.

Hardware and Software Upgrades: Recommend hardware and software upgrades based on growth statistics and disk space forecasts, and schedule and perform system upgrades as needed.

Task Scheduling: Schedule tasks using software support tools and scripts to automate routine processes and improve efficiency.

Configuration: Configure hardware, including workstations, printers, servers, and tape devices, to ensure proper functionality and compatibility.

Technical Support: Provide technical support and assistance to system users, addressing inquiries, troubleshooting issues, and offering guidance on system usage.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; relevant certifications preferred.

Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role, preferably in a government or legal environment.

Proficiency in administering, developing, and maintaining operating systems and related software.

Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve software, operating system, and networking problems.

Experience with system backups, data recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.

Knowledge of hardware and software upgrades, including scheduling and performing system upgrades.

Familiarity with task scheduling using software support tools and scripts.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide technical support to system users.
