The role

The Service Asset & Configuration Manager plays a pivotal role in IQUW’s IT Service Management function and ensures that our organisations IT assets and their configuration are understood, accurately documented, and properly controlled.

The SACM will establish and maintain an accurate and up-to-date Configuration Management Database (CMDB), and work to provide a solid foundation for change management, incident identification & resolution, and problem management.

The location for this role is our London office, and the classification is Hybrid. This involves two days collaborating with colleagues in the office and three days working from home per week.

Key responsibilities

Support the Head of IT Operations and wider team to ensure the SACM process remains fit-for-purpose.

Promote the (correct) use of the SACM process.

Take ownership of the SACM process to establish accountability.

Identify, document, and classify all IT assets and their attributes and ownership. To include software, hardware, licences, and related components.

Develop and maintain a Configuration Management Database (CMDB) to accurately track the relationships and dependencies between IQUW's IT assets and configuration items (CIs).

Support Change and Release Management in ensuring that all changes to the IT environment are documented and authorised to proceed. Establish and continually develop configuration management policies and processes.

Ensure that IT configurations align with industry standards, IQUW security policies, and our regulatory obligations.

Regularly audit the CMDB for accuracy and generate reports and dashboards to provide insights into configuration management status performance, and potential improvements or cost savings.

Collaborate with other IT teams to understand their configuration needs and assist in resolving configuration-related issues. Help to ensure a joined-up approach to configuration management across the IQUW estate.

Qualifications, skills and experience

Good understanding of IT Service Management (ITSM) principles, particularly SACM methodology.

Possesses an as a minimum an ITIL Foundation certificate and clear understanding of the Service Value Chain.

Extensive experience in IT configuration management or a related discipline.

Solid knowledge of software development lifecycle.

Experience with reporting, utilising the Microsoft Office product suite and ITSM tooling.

Proficiency in CMDB tools and IT asset management software.

Understanding of the management of risk and impact in an operational setting.

Demonstrable experience of management of third-party suppliers.
