Truss Designer (On-Site)

Description:

POSITION SUMMARY: Designs and develops truss systems for commercial and residential buildings. Create layouts and drawings for floor and roof plans by hand and with MiTek design software.

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design truss systems for commercial and residential buildings.

Create layouts and drawings for floor and roof plans by hand and with MiTek design software.

Discuss changes in designs with clients, architects, engineers, and other designers on the design team.

Other duties as assigned by management.Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 2 years' experience designing utilizing MiTek and/or other design related software with a general knowledge of the construction industry.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Ability to read and interpret architectural blueprints.

Strong math skills

Ability to calculate tributary loads, concentrated loads and load transfer throughout building.

Knowledge of current local codes associated with truss design (TPI).

Ability to effectively communicate with architects, engineers, customers and team members (through email and verbally)

ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Able to sit and stand for long periods of time.

Manual dexterity with both hands to operate office and computer equipment.

Able to stoop, squat, sit, stand, and climb stairs repeatedly.
