Worthington Steel is looking for a Tax Director to play a valuable role in its tax department.

We seek a smart, innovative, and motivated tax professional with strong tax technical and accounting skills to serve this very important role on the team.

The ideal candidate will be curious, learn quickly, and not afraid to roll up their sleeves to help the team.

Candidates will have previous experiences with technical tax matters including but not limited to executive compensation and international taxes and must be comfortable with ASC740, tax issues related to mergers & acquisitions, and tax controversy including audit defense.

The successful candidate must have extensive tax technical skills, demonstrated working knowledge of tax accounting, thorough understanding of international tax concepts, and ability to work effectively with cross functional teams.

This role will require flexibility and adaptability to deal with peaks and valleys related to workload as the timing is not predictable.

This position will be primarily responsible for tax technical matters, tax planning and policy, and tax controversy as listed below but will cover other areas as needed.

Additionally, this role will be responsible for tax issues for Worthington Steel's international operations.

Primary Responsibilities: Tax Accounting * Serves as a technical advisor on all tax technical matters to the tax department.

* Interacts with international finance departments to collect and review foreign tax packages and ensures tax accounts are accurately and timely reflected under ASC740.

* Researches technical tax matters and prepares memos and documentation to support tax positions.

* Prepares the forecasted rate drivers related to executive compensation, FDII, FTC, BEAT, GILTI, and APB23.

* Oversees establishment of effective tax forecasts and researches variances with budget versus actual data.

* Ensures M&A and other transactions are accurately and timely incorporated into financials and forecasts.

Tax Planning * Actively participates in M&A strategy including areas related to pre-acquisition consideration, deal structure, valuation, due diligence review, integration, purchase price accounting and post-acquisition restructuring.

* Identifies transactions that have tax implications and model the impact of various alternative scenarios.

* Monitors tax law changes and understands the impact to the company and implement systems/processes to ensure ongoing compliance.

* Collaborates with Treasury to develop tax-efficient repatriation strategies.

* Models impacts of proposed planning initiatives with the Vice President of Tax.

* Serves as a partner to internal teams on employee-related tax issues, including payroll tax, T&E, stock-based compensation, and global mobility.

Tax Compliance * Prepares US tax calculations and US tax reporting and compliance related to Worthington's international subsidiaries and investments, including subF, GILTI, FDII, BEAT, and FTC.

* Prepares and maintains E&P calculations and tax attributes for Worthington's foreign subsidiaries.

* Manages income tax audits and other tax controversy including evaluating income tax audit exposures, developing and executing tax defense strategy, preparing responses to audit requests for federal, state, and regulatory authorities.

* Coordinates and manages transfer pricing documentation.

* Monitors, analyzes, and implements OECD initiatives including Pillar Two as future requirements develop.

Innovation, Teamwork, and Leadership: * Influences and collaborates with key cross-functional partners and leadership in Accounting, Finance, Legal and Business teams.

* Supports Global Tax Operations Senior Manager to meet statutory deadlines.

* Inspires, coaches and mentors tax staff to promote their professional development.

Desired Experience * Requirement: Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

* CPA or Masters in Tax.

* 12+ years of overall tax experience in a corporate in-house environment and/or public accounting firm.

* 4+ years experience working with ASC740.

* 4+ years experience with international tax.

* Extensive knowledge of US GAAP, ASC740, tax planning and M&A, and experience with international tax accounting and compliance.

* Comprehensive experience in income tax across corporate, partnership, state income tax, international tax, and transfer pricing disciplines.

* Tax planning and strategy experience required with exposure to international structures, business models, and global complexity.

* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills required, with the ability to plan and execute at strategic and tactical levels.

* Strong technology skills including Excel, ERP systems, and Corptax.

* Demonstrated ability to critically analyze and research tax laws as it relates to past or contemplated organizational transactions and determine most favorable application to the company.

* Working knowledge and familiarity with Transfer Pricing guidelines, rules and methodologies, a plus.

* Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational leadership.

* Proven ability to conduct thorough tax research.

* Willingness to participate in multiple areas of tax.
