**Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing - Nursing Students** We would love to have you on our TEAM - as a nursing student working as a Care Companion and then progressing to a PCT.

This opportunity provides hands-on patient care experience that will be beneficial for your nursing school journey.

In a Care Companion role, you may be used as a sitter for patients who need to have that 1:1 attention to keep them safe from falls as they recover in the hospital.

You will transition (after completion of training provided by BSMCON) to a PCT which increases your skill set as a bedside clinician.

You will also be trained in how to assist and/or provide activities of daily living which include bathing, feeding, walking etc.

You will learn time management, prioritization and documentation skills that will benefit in your nursing journey as well.

In this role, students are eligible for **100% tuition coverage** for their nursing degree* _* Eligible nursing students must successfully complete/clear all onboarding and background requirements for BSMH, enroll in Guild's tuition program, maintain GPA requirement, 18mo commitment to BSMH post-graduation, and other information as stated during enrollment process._ **Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position** The Care Companion provides supportive patient care under the guidance of the Registered Nurse or designated health care professional in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and within the policies, procedures, and guidelines of Bon Secours Mercy Health.

**Essential Job Functions** - Provides support to the patient including, but not limited to, care and comfort, personal care and hygiene, toileting, and mobility.

- Creates a safe environment for patients.

- Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns.

- Provides high-level customer service to all patients, patient's family, visitors and all employees.

- Participates in hand-off/report of pertinent information regarding patient and departmental needs upon arrival and when leaving.
