The Ohio Department of Development’s Minority Business Development Division is seeking a policy driven leader seeking an opportunity to lead within a growing organization.

DEPUTY CHIEF, POLICY AND ADMINISTRATION

Some of the things you will do:

Responsible for operations of the Policy and Administration Office.

Exercises responsibility for new program policy development and coordination, as well as special projects.

Sets office goals, tasks, staffing.

Assists with the administration of the Division’s performance review process.

Exercises administrative responsibility for budgeting and fiscal control and personnel management.

Works in coordination with other Development divisions including the Information Technology, Communications, Graphics, and Research division serving as the MBDD conduit with those other Development divisions and overseeing those processes.

Works in coordination with Chief and Assistant Chief of MBDD, serves as the Division’s record retention officer, maintains and develops consistent business practices Division wide, coordinates activities with internal stakeholders.

Represents MBDD and its programs on various committees and at public hearings and makes presentations before these groups.

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Public/Business Administration, management, economics or closely related area.

2. Substantial experience in government or non-profit program administration. Previous experience administering programs

including grant administration preferred.

3. Demonstrated supervisory/management experience to include hiring, evaluating, training, motivating and administering disciplinary actions required.

4. Previous experience developing and managing an operating budget.

5. Excellent communication and presentation skills

6. Working knowledge of computer software programs including spreadsheets and database management, as well as skill utilizing all forms of wireless devices to enhance work productivity.
