About Airlink Airlink is a Washington, DC-based nonprofit humanitarian logistics organization that works with aviation and logistics partners to transport relief workers and emergency supplies for reputable non-governmental organizations (NGOs) responding to rapid-onset disasters and other humanitarian crises around the globe.

Today, Airlink’s network consists of more than 50 commercial and charter airlines and 130+ international NGOs.

Airlink and its airline partners have transported more than 8,000 passengers and more than 4,500,000 pounds of cargo in support of a broad range of humanitarian initiatives that have provided aid to more than 23 million people.

Airlink has saved our NGO partners more than $14,000,000 in transport costs.

Looking forward, Airlink shows no signs of slowing down, with a three-year strategic plan that includes increasing our team by 25%, doubling our annual revenue, and diversifying our funding base.

To that end, we are seeking a Development Associate to support our expanding Development team in achieving its fundraising goals from corporate, foundation, individual, and government donors.

Position Summary Reporting to the Corporate Relations Manager, the Development Associate will be a part of a five-member team responsible for generating $6M+ in annual revenue from a diverse funder base, including corporations, individuals, foundations, and government agencies.

The primary function of the Development Associate will be to assist the administrative and project management needs of the team while engaging directly with donors and working across the organization on all aspects of resource development.

This role’s dynamic nature requires exemplary administrative and people skills.

The ideal candidate will have keen attention to detail, be able to pivot seamlessly between priorities, and excel in a fast-paced environment.

Due to the nature of Airlink’s mission supporting disaster response, there will be an occasional need to work extended hours or on weekends with limited advance notice.

Primary Responsibilities Donor Research & Engagement (40%) Research and develop prospective donor briefs.

Assist in scheduling meetings and calls with prospective and current donors.

Support preparation of disaster-timed fundraising campaign materials, including e-mail solicitations, online campaigns, and status reports.

Prepare and distribute donor communications, including solicitations, proposals, acknowledgments, reports, and follow-up correspondence.

Data & Financial Management (35%) Manage and maintain Salesforce, including consistent and accurate data entry, gift reporting, and donor acknowledgment tracking.

Work with the finance team to prepare invoices, follow up on outstanding pledges, and reconcile financial records.

Prepare dashboards and monthly reports to track progress toward goals.

Work with the operations team and consultants to troubleshoot Salesforce issues and identify potential alternative CRM solutions.

Maintain fundraising best practices and trends in the sector.

Ensure compliance with related privacy policies and procedures.

Volunteer, Committee & Event Support (25%) Support outreach to Ambassador and volunteer networks.

Coordinate and schedule Development Committee meetings; prepare meeting materials and minutes.

Assist with planning special events and participation in industry conferences, including scheduling and attendance, event logistics, preparing briefing materials, and managing volunteer engagement.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience + High School diploma.

2+ years of experience in fundraising/development, marketing, or account management.

Knowledge of fundraising/development principles, donor research and cultivation, and proposal process.

Demonstrated proficiency with Salesforce (or comparable CRM), Microsoft Office/Google Suite, Mailchimp, and Donorbox (or other comparable tools). Demonstrated ability to prioritize, multi-task, and manage time and information effectively, even under pressure and tight deadlines.

Willingness to travel within the U.S.

and internationally (up to 15%). Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

Location Airlink is headquartered in downtown Washington, D.C., and operates a hybrid work schedule with the team in-office three days a week.

Given the collaborative nature of this position, we are only considering candidates who are in or willing to relocate to the Washington, D.C., area.

Compensation & Benefits The salary range for this position is $55,000 to $65,000.
