Our client is is a leading application Engineering Consulting firm in the Washington, D.C. metro region specializing in Management Services, Technology Solutions and Facilities Services. They partner with and assist Federal, State and local government agencies; private sector Energy Services Companies (ESCOs); and Commercial entities in the design and implementation of their various Engineering and Technology related projects. Responsibilities
Our client is seeking a Master Data Analyst with extensive experience in data analytics to join the Business Analysis and Testing Support team. This role involves supporting teams using both Agile (Sprint) and Waterfall methodologies within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). The position requires handling multiple projects, maintaining flexibility, and contributing proactively to ongoing improvements. This is a hybrid role with 1-2 days per week onsite in Richmond, VA.
Work with project team members and business stakeholders to understand business processes and pain points
Develop expertise in the customers’ datasets and data lifecycle
Profile source data, review content and structure compared to dataset requirements, identify conflicts, and determine recommendations for resolution
Conduct entity resolution to identify matching and merging and resolve semantic conflicts
Elicit, record, and manage metadata
Diagram current processes and proposed modifications using process flows, context diagrams, and data flow diagrams
Discover and document requirements and user stories with a focus on improving both business and technical processing
Decompose requirements into Epics and Features and create clear and concise user stories that are easy to understand and implement by technical staff
Utilize progressive elaboration to map stories to data models and architectures to facilitate master data management
Identify and group related user stories into themes, document dependencies and associated business processes
Assist Product Owner in maintaining the product backlog
Create conceptual prototypes and mock-ups
Collaborate with staff, vendors, consultants, and contractors to formulate, detail, and test potential and implemented solutions
Perform Quality Analyst functions, including defining test objectives, test plans, and test cases, and executing test cases
Coordinate and facilitate User Acceptance Testing with Business and ensure Project Managers/Scrum Masters are informed of the progress
Requirements
Minimum of 10 years of experience delivering business data analysis artifacts
5+ years of experience as an Agile Business Analyst with a strong understanding of Scrum concepts and methodology
Experience organizing and maintaining Product and Sprint backlogs
Experience translating client and product strategy requirements into dataset requirements and user stories
Proficient in defining acceptance criteria and managing the acceptance process
Experience with enterprise data management and reporting systems (operational data stores, data warehouses, data lakes, data marts)
Expertise with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Visio, PowerPoint, Project Server)
Exceptional written and oral communication skills and the proven ability to work well with a diverse set of peers and customers
Experience with delivering business and systems analysis artifacts such as Business Requirements Documentation (BRD), Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM)
Proficiency in creating wireframes and prototypes using applications like Balsamiq
Experience with large, multi-module systems
Experience with Application Lifecycle Management (ALM)
Preferred Requirements
Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) and/or Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) Certification
Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or Certified Data Professional (CDP)
Experience using Team Foundation Server and work item tracking
Experience with automated testing tools such as TestComplete
