Evening/ weekend track nursing instructor: Work in collaboration with other faculty, plans, implements, and evaluates instruction in the classroom, campus and clinical laboratories. Supports an academic and non-academic milieu in the school conducive to effective student learning and personal development. Acts within the defined philosophy and framework of the diploma nursing program. Contributes to the development and advancement of the nursing profession, nursing practice, and nursing education through scholarly endeavors. Enhances the nursing program, Hospital, Nursing Profession, and the Community through contributed professional services.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Participates in the governance of the nursing program through the Faculty Organization and its appropriate working units.

2. In collaboration with other faculty contributes to the defined curriculum plan by planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating instruction.

3. Utilizes diverse pedagogy appropriate for student population with an emphasis on adult learning strategies and active learning formats.

4. Creates a positive milieu in the classroom, clinical and campus laboratory, and the nursing·

program that fosters student learning and development.

5. Evaluates student learning outcomes in various milieus of instruction.

6. Evaluates student performance in accordance with established standards defined by the course faculty and the school.

7. Advises students on academic and programmatic matters for assigned advisees.

8. Establishes positive faculty-student relationships with effective communications in formal and informal contacts.

9. Assumes teaching assignment workload per nursing program policy.

I 0. Attends research related conferences, workshops, and lectures.

11. Critiques research studies in relation to methodology, analysis, interpretation, and relevance.

12. Utilizes current research applicable to area of teaching.

13. Develops plan for professional growth.

14. Participates as a member of the faculty organization and hospital committee(s).

15. Participates in activities promoting the nursing program and school.

16. Maintains membership in professional organizations and/or community groups.

17. Provides service to the community external to the school.

18. Serves as a professional role model for students and staff.

19. Supports a learning community within the nursing program.

20. Implements the program philosophy, conceptual framework, and content/process instructional plan to insure integrity of the curriculum.

21. Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/ Entity as well as the proper release of information.

22. Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.

23. Demonstrates/models the Network's Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external).

24. Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate: Clinical

Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety.

25. Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability through the effective and efficient use of resources in daily procedures, processes and practices.

26. Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code.

27. Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

Participates in orientation of new faculty and students Assists in student recruitment and visitation programs Assumes team leadership, as assigned or when needed. Serves on structural units of the School of within the Network as requested.

COMMUNICATIONS:

Effective verbal and written communication required with other faculty, administration, hospital personnel, visitors, and external professional agencies. Maintenance of positive relationship with students and professional staff essential.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Membership in professional nursing association.

2. Current registered nurse license in Pennsylvania.

3. Maintenance of clinical competence as registered nurse.

4. Accepts changes in teaching assignment based on needs of the nursing department.

5. Represents the School in a positive manner.
