Aerovel is seeking an experienced Engineer Project Manager to join our team on-site in Bingen, WA developing and manufacturing the next generation of long-range robotic aircraft. Aerovel is led by the aeronautical veterans who invented and developed the Group 2 small tactical unmanned aerial system (STUAS), a backbone of US military and allied intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) missions worldwide. The Group 2 UAS systems have contributed significantly to the effectiveness of US and allied troops as well as their safety and security. Aerovel Flexrotor is the most advanced STUAS with vertical take-off and landing (VTOL). It is designed for the demanding reliability and specifications required by the US Department of Defense (DOD) while being affordable for commercial applications.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Leads multiple concurrent cross-functional engineering projects, of both internal and external project teams, developing, manufacturing, and sustaining Aerovel’s technologies and products.

Establishes and maintains the master engineering project schedule, comprising projects of all sizes and complexity, all phases from proposal and planning, through execution to completion.

Drives project team’s weekly goals setting and achievements, maintaining up-to-date progress and status reporting with frequent one-on-one contact and minimized meeting time.

Ensures all necessary engineering deliverables and coordination are accounted for in the project activity, including approvals, drawing release, work-instruction development, configuration control, hardware lead-times, inspections, manufacturing trials, kitting development, verification testing and reporting.

Identifies and tracks risks and issues, determines dependencies, prioritizes, and ensures ownership and activity to mitigate and resolve.

Forecasts, identifies, and removes obstacles from project teams’ path, such that project team may maintain focus on core deliverables, with minimal delay.

Coordinates and performs necessary hands-on technical engineering, engineering change process (EC), and administrative work otherwise unassigned to project team.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of a Bachelor’s of Science degree or greater in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or aerospace engineering, and 10 or more years’ relevant experience.

The candidate must have a professional background as a design engineer, with at least one area of technical specialty, and have made designs resulting in manufacture.

The candidate must have hands-on experience performing all phases of the engineering development cycle: including design, drawing release, selection of supplier, sourcing and testing prototypes, resolving pre-production issues, and production launch.

The candidate must have experience leading multiple engineering projects and project teams through all phases of the design and development cycle.

Candidate must possess strong leadership skills and be a self-starter.

Highly motivated individual with strong communication, interpersonal, and problem solving skills.

Able to interact professionally with internal and external customers, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Experience with production manufacturing techniques for aerospace.

Demonstrated highly skilled in organization and time management.

Ability to work on-site in Bingen, WA.
