Total Wine & More is seeking an Analytics Engineer with expertise in all facets of data warehousing, data modeling, and data management, to join our Data Services team in Bethesda, MD or Boca Raton, FL. We are embarking on a significant initiative to transform all aspects of data lifecycle management services within Total Wine & More including enterprise data architecture, data warehousing, and business intelligence – leveraging the cloud to create a foundation for advanced analytics and data quality management capabilities longer term.

You will be passionate about data, data architecture and modeling, and data governance to help execute our vision for data services at Total Wine & More. You will leverage data warehouse engineering and modeling skills to drive business value across all departments. You will work closely with the business, technology and infrastructure teams, and security staff and will enjoy learning and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.

You will report to the Director of Business Intelligence and Data Analysis in Bethesda, MD.

You will:

Partner with Data Services data engineers, data scientists, and BI engineers to deliver data modeling, data quality, and overall data warehousing requirements in support of business and reporting objectives.

Implement improvements to the warehouse’s structure to improve efficiency and reduce costs, and develop new features as needed to support business requirements.

Build data quality testing processes and monitoring of processes to ensure timely access to quality data for business partners and end users.

Assist with implementation of data architecture and data governance standards and best practices.

Stay informed of new technologies and trends to guide the optimization of and continuous advancement our platforms.

Conduct exploratory data analysis to understand the patterns and potential business insights exhibited in the data.

Drive documentation of data platform processes and shareability with the organization

Be proactive and take ownership of the projects and tasks assigned.

You will have:

Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university in Computer Science, Technology, Business, or related field.

2-3+ years of experience in data warehousing, data architecture, data modeling, business intelligence or related fields

Proven track record in building impactful data modeling solutions using cloud-native tools.

Experience with SQL and DBMSs

Knowledgeable about workflow management platforms and data warehousing tools

Knowledgeable about data governance standards, strategies, and best practices

Passionate about data, data analytics, and data warehousing

Strong analytic skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task, troubleshoot and problem solve along with the ability to make recommendations based on analysis are extremely important.

Must possess excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.

Must be self-managed, highly motivated and have a strong drive for results.

Must be naturally able to exert influence, drive, and steer stakeholders in the right direction.

Proven, demonstrated capability in gathering and documenting complex business and functional requirements.

Ability to grasp concepts quickly and reduce them to practice with little supervision.

Ability to manage changing priorities and plan effectively to meet deadlines.

Ability to analyze complex situations and to derive workable actions.

Ability to constructively challenge requirements and current state to increase overall value to the organization.

Preferred Experience, Skills, and Education:

Experience with cloud-based analytical platforms (GCP, Azure)

Experience with enterprise Business Intelligence technologies (Power BI, Looker)

Experience with workflow management (Airflow) and data warehouse tools (dbt)

Knowledge of data lifecycle management (DLM)

Familiar with retail operations
