We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chartering Manager to join our dynamic team in our Houston office. The Chartering Manager will be responsible for overseeing dry bulk cargo chartering activities in the west coast of North and South America.

This role involves developing and executing chartering strategies, negotiating charter agreements, managing customer relationships, and ensuring the efficient operation of chartered vessels. The Chartering Manager plays a crucial role in maximizing vessel utilization, optimizing revenue.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize chartering activities in the west coast of the South and North America market

Negotiate charter agreements with charterers, brokers, and other stakeholders to secure favorable terms, rates, and conditions.

Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential charterers, port authorities, and other industry stakeholders in the region.

Identify opportunities for business expansion and collaboration.

Coordinate closely with vessel operations teams to ensure the efficient execution of charter contracts.

Monitor vessel performance, voyage schedules, and port operations to optimize efficiency and minimize downtime.

Conduct regular market analysis to assess freight rates, vessel availability, and competitor activities in the market.

Provide insights and recommendations to senior management to support decision-making.

Identify and mitigate risks associated with chartering operations, including credit risk, market volatility, and geopolitical factors.

Requirements

Preferably a bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Business Administration, or related field.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in chartering or commercial operations within the dry bulk shipping industry, with a focus on U.S and/or South America market.

Proven track record of successful charter negotiations, contract management, and customer relationship management.

Strong analytical and strategic planning skills, with the ability to interpret market data and formulate effective business strategies.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both verbal and written.

Fluency in English, written and spoken. Fluency in Spanish is an advantage.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and chartering software/tools such as IMOS.

This position will require national and international travel time to time.
